    Default Roger

Some of you may recall a member a good few years back, Roger Wolfe lives down in Tassie.
Met him a few years back when he came to Port Melbourne for a while.
We have been in regular contact via e-mail and greetings card.

Had a very bad one form him today which he hopes is wrong.
Chest and breathing problems and the latest result is that he has only about 3 to 4 months before crossing the bar.
He gets around now on an electric scooter.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

Latest from him today is extremely sad.
His surgeon told him there is nothing they can do, he has put himself on the VAD list as he said,
'Do not want to die in hospital gasping for my last breath'
    Will keep you updated.

The term VAD here in Oz is 'voluntary assisted dying'
He claims better than gasping for breath at the end.
Easier for the family as well, gives them the chance to be all there at the end.
Roger tells me he is very happy with that concept.

He has just told me he will do it at home with just the family and dog with him.
    Not in a hospital bed.
Sounds a bit much, but it is what he wants.

Very much the same as our poor Den went John, at Home with only his Daughter with him, that too was what he wanted! There was no Public Service held at all, just a quiet Farewell.

    Thanks
