First ship I was on we had a Polish bloke who had never showered, te Bosun and the ab's tied him to the rail and let him have it with a fire hose, he was a regular in the shower after that.

Saw a similar with a winger on the Windsor who aqua phobic, but by the time we were two days out of Las Palmas he had come to understand that water was not so bad .
He could of course saved himself a lot of trouble and kept his clothes clean.

But on the Well deck there was always a pool set up, no one wanted to go in there for sometime after that.
