Re. Keith #665
Keith: I'm aware you're tired from "cooking,*dusting, washing," was a tongue*in cheek laugh at yourself, for doing the labor that is done by two, what you already did around the house and now doubled up with her share.* *You forgot about making the*bed, vacuuming, washing floors, shopping and putting*purchases away and does washing include washing up dishes etc. and laundry and folding and putting things away and changing sheets on the bed and making it daily?*
Alas for me, as I have previously posted, I lost the love of my life, my wife Jeanmarie*eighteen months ago.* My day now begins at 5am, I do my floor exercises then dress and out the door, flash light in hand for my daily three-mile walk, with the exceptions of Friday, no walk, no exercises, it's vacuuming*and floor washing day and my lousy back will not allow both.
With the exception of Sunday, I am busy from after my walk and breakfast doing house work until*about two, then I go on-line for an hour, and have a quick read of "Friends' ' . and email good other friends.* That ends my break, then I am fixing dinner.* After dinner I read for a couple of hours and bed, whacked at 9:30pm.
Fridays are cooking days, one week I will cook a large pot of Spaghetti meat sauce, enough for about seven meals, I will pack them in one portion meals in sandwich bags and freeze them, the next week it could be chili con carne, and so on through an inventory*of meals ready to eat. As I fancy something I just pull out a sandwich bag in the morning to defrost in the fridge for the next day's dinner.* Also on Friday, I chop-up slices or cubes of a half yellow squash, and zucchini, spring onion' radish, yellow and red peppers.* This I add daily to a*half handful of fresh spinach leaves and this becomes my evening salad starter for five or six dinners. When that's*gone, I cut up the remaining*for the next five days. I serve*it with olive oil and vinegar*dressing, followed*by my entree of choice along with a glass of white wine, Chateau Cardboard Pinot Grigio. After dinner I fall off the good food wagon and have dessert, either a chocolate covered ice cream bar, or brownie or a slice of store-bought fruit*pie.* Then chowing down completely, I have a couple of shots of bourbon (on Sunday I have scotch instead).
*
Continuing on Friday's cooking, I get a large pot and open two bottles of Gatorade for fruit*stock and bring it to a slow boil. I peel and chop into nice spoon size chunks; three apples, two pears, and if they are firm but not too firm, two fresh peaches. I split a pint of strawberries*into halves or quarters, depending on the size and have a pint of blueberries, plus a couple of handfuls*of dried apricots. while I am peeling and*chopping, I cook the fruit separately, one at a time, in the Gatorade. Dried apricots first as they are the hardest and longest cooking, then cooked, I remove them from the stock and put them aside, followed by the apples and so on,*from the*longest down to the blueberries which you*cook (blanch) just*for a couple of minutes.* *Then I put everything back in the pot and mix, cool down and then refrigerated. This fruit compote becomes my lunch for roughly a week. Don't overcook the fruit, that's why you cook them separately.
My diet is well balanced, fruit, nuts (snack food), protein, cereals, and some 2% fat milk. I break my chops of a Friday with bulk cooking, but I have an easy ride through the other six days (that's food wise anyway).
My friends ask me why I don't hire*a*cleaning*lady?* I had one forty years ago when I was divorced, she ran a vacuum*around and slightly stirred*the dust around and stole jewelry. The problem was there were three of them who rotated, so there was not one I could pin it on. I just ended it. I had custody of two of my three sons, the third was in college.* It was beneath the dignity of the two remaining to do women's*work or pick up clothes. So, I ended up coming*home from work and for the sake of peace and quiet*doing the housework myself.
So, no Mrs. Mop for me...But being alone is no easy ride.
Good luck to your wife on her coming op. and tell her not too much smirking as she watches you bust your ass.
Its lunch time here in Oklahoma, guess what I'm having?* A clue. The Longest part of fixing lunch is opening the fridge door.
Cheers, Rodney:cool:
Thanks for that Rodney, i don't envy you the loss of your love, its only when they are not here that you realise just how much they do, and i dread the day when i have to face what you have described, i take my hat off to you. In my case, it was a bit tongue in cheek with my remark, because she should be home on Monday to Tuesday, and even then when she is on crutches, she will be the bosun, but will tell me what numbers to press on the washing machine etc. I know, despite all the jokes, i have been very lucky to have pulled the plug on my sea going days as soon as i met my lady, and that was now 60 years ago, and 58 married. Its nice to hear your positive attitude and may it last many years yet, best regards Keith
PS, i like the sound of your cooking, i might give a jacket spud a go !!!
She might just spring it on you Keith and introduce Sunday morning inspections , so make sure the bathroom taps are polished and gleaming, that used to be a favourite one. JS .
Well for those of you who want to dream there is an article on the net about adding Viagra to a bunch of flowers, makes them last longer.
My GP told me there are better tablets on the market now apart from Viagra.
One that he highly reccomends goes by the name of Mycoxaflopin.
Can be bought with out a script.
Mycoxaflopin is the generic name for the same thing.
Ibepokin causes a giggle, look it up. LOL.
K.
Thanks for that Victoria, think she's home today, hope your son is ok, we will never stop worrying about our kids until we are gone. My youngest son 53years, had cancer of the Osphogeous two years ago, so i know what worries you go through, but as you know, they can do some pretty incredible things in hospitals . Will check the loos as suggested, AND make sure the lids are down, lol kt
It has been said that you have more chance of catching something in hospital than anywhere.
Here in Melbourne we had' a few years ago' two hospitals pulled down.
the reason, Golden Staff had got into the walls and other parts of the buildings which had been built just after the war.
There was no way it could be controlled so down they came.
The theory now is that send them home as soon as possible, they will recover quicker there than in hospital.
In 1965 I had a Hernia repair, in for two weeks.
Fast forward to 2013 and the same op for me was half a day in hospital.
