Very similar here on this small Island, the figure has just rocketed above the national average , just a couple of weeks after the latest pop festival here. We hope now with fewer visitors it will drop again, kt

I often wonder how many of the people dying of Covid are HIV positive as their immune system is compromised, it is still being spread, but probably privileged information.

Victoria, like many others here in the lock down capital of the world we have broken the rules.
Travelled outside the limit, stayed out longer than allowed.
The public have had enough of the lock down which by the look of figures is not working anyway.
Infection rate is going up at a rate of knots long with vaccination rates.

Where we live the local Pharmacy told me there are about 100 cases in the town but no notices about it.

By the time the lock down ends we will have spent 286 days in it over 6 sessions.

Hospitals are not going well, but a bigger problem is those with the need are finding it hard to get it.
About 99.9% of those with the Virus are un vaccinated or anti vaxers, selfish people with no concern for the community.

But the state gov has now decreed that any one in the public areas, from GP to shopping center cleaners must be fully vaccinated by November 22 or no job for them.

    Hi Victoria.
I can imagine the mental stress that you son is going through, besides his stress over getting his treatment, he has the lockdown to contend with, a good thing to keep his windows up as this Covid travels through the air. Hope his treatment is a success, and you can get to see him soon.

I think that with Post #560 , its like we had here, with Figures going up each day , till we reached the 1500 a day mark, but with the Vaccination rate also going at a fast rate, the numbers are dropping as Today we have some 594 cases i think. So not a case of not working, think its just a case of time and patience to keep fighting this Virus. With more Jabs come lesser cases and in Melbourne i am sure that will also be the case, time will tell.
As for us in NSW we now have nearly 68% Double Jabbed Arms, and that is only now 2% off the magic number (70%) needed to end some of the restrictions that are now in place!
We see as they call Freedom Day (I dont really like that ,as its not really ) on Monday the 11th October, What will and what will not change is still to be seen, and with the new Lad (Dominic) in Gladys's Shoes who knows!
    Its a waiting game !
Next step is the 80% mark!

My idea of Freedom Day is the day we can all go back to doing the things that we always did with no Restrictions at all! Thats Freedom!!!!

Added Just in on the News so good News so far!

NSW is projected to hit the 70 per cent vaccination target today, triggering an end to the shackles of lockdown on Monday.
The state will be the first to hit the major milestone on Wednesday, with the result to be announced during Thursday's press conference.
NSW recorded 594 new Covid cases in the 24 hours to 8pm on Tuesday, the fewest since August 18

On Monday restrictions are set to be eased for fully vaccinated people, including five people being allowed to visit a home, restaurants, bars and retail shops reopening.
Mr Perrottet is reviewing NSW's roadmap out of lockdown with the state's crisis cabinet and health officials on Wednesday, hinting tweaks could be made.

Lewis. no one is saying lock downs do not work, it is the manner in which they are administrated.
Threats and bully tactics is not the way to go.

Our wonderful premier thought he could eliminate it , refused to believe he could not.

When NSW had their second he was all over it saying only he knew how to handle it and they would fail.
Well NSW has won, they have got over it with only half the problems we have, and ours is now worse than theirs and we have a smaller population.

NSW went into lock downs of postal code areas for most of the time, not the whole state for weeks on end.
WE now have the worst because the people have had enough of his bully boy tactics, locked up with no light ahead to look for.
Mental health issues the worst in the nation, so ask your self, what has lock down actually achieved?

The way things ate we could well be still locked up at Christmas with this guy.
His min interest is his political future.

And we still have thousands of un vaccinated people arriving on our shores daily, and what's more, we don't really know anything about them, kt

I have no doubt if they all had hgv licences, the rules would change immediately. Big businesses are frantically trying to prise open the doors to the cheap labour from Europe they have been enjoying for years, while we have been paying for dole money for people quite able to do that job, but not for the same money and conditions, and in that i don't blame them,

Lewis I have been doing that for the last 17 years.

As to the current situation here in Victoria and why we think it could have been done better.
When the pandemic hit the PM formed a national cabinet of the six state premiers and two territory senior ministers.
Meeting weekly to decide the best course of action to deal with it.

Agreed by all that hotel quarantine for all returning traveler's would be too hard to move them to Christmas island where the national quarantine station is.

It was also agree that the Australian Defence Force would act as guards on the hotels, they have some with medical qualifications which would be of great use.

But the premier of Victoria decided to go his own way with the guards, not use the ADF, no he paid the owner of a company that provides guars to car parks, gaming clubs, shopping centers and others some $3 million.

These guards had no training for the job and did not understand what it was all about.
They thought nothing of taking infected guests shopping in exchange for a leg over.

So they then took the virus home to family and friends, many of which worked in aged care facilities.
It spread in them and 805 in them died. Only about 40 in the rest of the country.

Later in the year he called for an inqury into kit all.
Along with all his senior ministers, public servants and chief health officer none could remember who ordered the guards or how they were paid for.
That is why most of us do not think the lock down did any good.

But now some of the senior ministers, public servants and staffers are being investigated for what we are told were fraudulent actions.
The premier will not say if he is one of those being investigated!!!!!!

He doesn’t appear to be very bright John. There are others like him. Would rather listen to themselves than those properly educated to do it, and that is the medical profession. If appearances could kill he would be waiting his turn on death row. Every time I see him on telly he looks like death warmed up , and trying to talk to, people who he must think are morons . JS
