Seems that a contract in the EU is not worth the paper its written on, so really bodes well for a trade agreement, we will see if they ask for yet another extension to agree, KT

#20 this is the article. I think it was from the edition printed on the 8th of April.

Read this article, I don 't just make these things up, Do I believe the article, well it has been printed by the that well respected newspaper the Daily Express : https://www.express.co.uk/news/polit...ix-UK-taxpayer

But Mr Breton dismissed this had any impact on what party should receive doses from the factory.

He said: “In the discussion I had at the beginning with the CEO of AstraZeneca, I understood, he told me, that the ramp up of Halix has been financed by the British Government

“And it happens that when I went to visit the site and I asked how much they received from the British Government, the chairman and the cEO were they and they told me ‘zero’.

“So in fact, I asked three times a question and I got three times the same answer.”

Here in Oz it has hit the fan.
We both had our first AZ on Easter Saturday.
All was going well until last Thursday when some 'experts' under gov medical control said it should not be used on those under 50!!!!!

We are making the bloody stuff here and have contracts with Belgium to supply additional supplies along with some pfizer as well.
But EU say non, so we wait until a bit later.
Some pfizer is here with more coming slowly.

The medical association said that if you ae under 50 and your GP says there is no risk for you then you can have the AZ.
But today our state gov, acting as usual like dictators, has banned the use of it for two weeks so those of non speaking background can be informed.

What a bunk of plonkers, do they not understand that those of non English speaking background go to similar GP?
But will be interesting to see as the roll out is a Federal position and the federal health minister says if your GP OK it then go for it.
But federal rules override state so we wait for the screams from the state gov.

As to the 'blood clots' not those associated with thrombosis etc.
This is a low level of platelets in the white blood cells, which lowers your immune system.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

The EU stopped the export of 250,000 bottles of the AZ from Italy to OZ (each bottle contains 10 doses), the UK has supplied 700,000 bottles of AZ to OZ, of which 350,000 have already left UK, so we have been advised.

As for the CEO of AZ saying he has received zero funds maybe a bit disengenious as anyone who has a Govt contract is advised that your initial payment may not be received for 6 - 9 months from initial supply, but you will get it. I was a Govt (MOD) approved contractor and this was the advice given and that's the way it worked out; you just have to ensure that your price reflects any interest on Bank loans that you may have to take out to subsidise the contract until paid. For a small company being a Govt approved contractor is a pain in the butt, as filling in the paperwork takes more time than filling the contract, for bigger companies they have specialised departments and its run of the mill for them. But the CEO should have known the procedure and how it works.

    From pharmaceuticaltechnology.com
The UK funded Strazeneca to the tune of £84m for the production and supply of the Covid vaccine.

No one is arguing about that, but funding and as #25 Ivan implies coughing up the cash takes time so as the CEO of Astra says they have not been paid yet. You know it, I know it, the EU have basically told Astra , because of our duck in ordering and rolling out the vaccine you would be well advised to only supply the EU Political black mail. The EU commissioners have been made to look totally incompetent and have fallen at the first hurdle during a World/EU/National crisis. One thing for sure if the government called another EU referendum in the UK the Brexit vote would increase their majority.
Even the TSAR of Russia has said they weak, maybe he will turn off the Gas supply for a week?

In certain Government contracts money is paid up front for research and development, such as the RR nuclear plant.
Astrazeneca received Government funds to invest in their plant.
As Ivan states, small companies maybe treated unfairly wby the MOD.
Large companies receive money upfront at the start of a contract.
We both can agree that the EU Commission is brilliant advert for leaving the EU. Lol

The one thing the EU has shown the world, its a broken system, incapable of dealing with any major problems, and will affect anyone thinking of investing in the EU. The one person rubbing his hands in Glee is Mr Putin, it will be interesting on how Biden sees the situation with NATO, and most of the countries not contributing the share that they committed to, it was one of the few things that i agreed with Trump on, and how the yanks are subsidising the rest of Europe, kt

Wonder when Biden will wake up and stop being anti British, if it hadn't been for the British (as he sees it) his granpappy would never have left Ireland and therefore he (Biden) forgets that if that hadn't happened he would never have been USA President. His penchant for Europe is misguided, Macron has stated he wants a European Army independent of the USA and NATO and wants to do Trade and Arms deals with Russia, which may lead one to think that Macron may indeed be a Soviet 'sleeper'.

From Current events it would seem that Russia and China are in cahoots intent upon carving up the world between them. Russia is placing troops on the borders of former Soviet satellites and controls economic/oil/gas to those countries in addition to Germany. China is placing more battalions on the Indian border and they can be moved quickly now the new multi lane highway to Pakistan is fully operational. China has increased military aircraft in the Formosa Straits, and has approx 500 vessels in the South China Sea and the Sprattly Islands, which are military stepping stones to the Philippines and Australasia.

Macron and Merkel would do well to sit down and reflect which side of the fence they should now be sitting on, especially as Iran, closely allied to China is well on the path to producing military grade uranium etc etc
