My op was last September and though I do not say to
much online regarding my health, can say as I only had
the one good eye, the other has been useless for many
years, I was near blind for 14 months, my dad also had
similar and faced with the op said no, fearing if it went
wrong he would have zero sight, he acted well but, in
later until passing his sight was close to zero. There
are risks to all ops but, to me it was like being born
again. Not normal here for the eye not be covered
and aid needed afterwards. I had arranged transport
by ambulance arranged to home with relatives coming
after work. The hospital were not happy with me being
on my own for a few hours and were looking at an over
night stay. The consultant allowed a clear covering and
after a short rest had almost instant sight. Dark glasses
    also helped.

    Hi Vernon.
You know that you can get hearing aids free If your on the pension? I get a test every year free, got two, one in each ear, the only thing I pay is $90 a year insurance in case I lose them, I also get as many batteries as i want, I just go in and get six packets whenever.

    Hi Des
Well do we have different Systems for different Postcodes now??
I am aware of the Hearing Aids as i too have them, but the ones i have are pretty useless now,as i have had them for Just nearly five Years.
I have been for tests like you but not every Year as here we are only allowed 4 free Visits a Year and then a set of new Aids every Five Years,so i am due for new ones next Year!
We here pay $45 a Year fee for Theft,Loss and damage like you. And yes also get Batteries free just have to phone and they post them out.
So as said dont know why things are so different and we are both in NSW ?? Crazy place at tImes is this Aussieland, but still Grand! LOL

Ditto Des , have 3 pairs now , the first set thought I lost one so went in and got a free new set then found the one I thought had lost. .The last set thought I would get a bit more up to date set with a bit of volume control on. All 3 sets I seldom wear l only wear watching telly. When in large crowds can hear too much , so just leave out. When in small crowds don’t want to listen to some of the drizzle so also leave off. That was one good thing on a ship. In good times , could go into cabin and just close the door . Although didn’t always work. JS

Specsavers now do hearing tests so I am told.
Hope they are better than the eye test they did for me, walked out in the end as thye gave the impression selling frames was more important than the eye tests.
As to six packs, Dan Murphy is a far better option for them.
As to ringing in the ear, it always goes when I answer the phone.
