John, when you are one of the chosen few you can walk on water, kt
A British mate of mine told me that when he was in the Army in Germany he went to a wedding where a German celebrant was marrying a friend from the Isle of Wight. After naming him he added that the lad was from Cov-es, Izzle ov Vigit.
I doubt that it was eye problems.

Today i got the car out of the garage and drove it into town.
I could see quite well.
Mike
Good to see you making a recovery Mike :)
Well Tomorrow the 11th is my day for the Initial Check no big deal i know.
I must again thank Richard for the offer to take me ,but have phoned him and told him my neighbour will be doing the Honours LOL
Once the Initial test is done i hope i will not have too long a wait for the actual Op,as its been a long time now
Oh well will find out soon now thank goodness.
Glad you are back Driving Mike good going!
I am now on the list to see if they can save any sight in my other eye.

HI Mike.
I remember the sting from one of the drops, so does my wife who had to put up with the jumping and wincing. But glad to see you back on deck.

Well just arrived back from the initial Eye Tests and measurements etc.
All went well except the waiting time now, which at this stage is 12 Months away still, this is for Patients on the Public waiting list, Private Patients can have theirs done at anytime.
The Dr said that my Left Eye was the first that would be done as it was the worse of the two, having had Laser Surgery on it in 1982 for Detached Retina.
However my Right Eye also which has Cataract ,now has to be re tested in June as there seems to be some Nerve damage there. will cost another $ 340 i will get some Medicare rebate from that test as well. So i have another appointment in June again. Oh dear! $ 286 later but of that i get back $ 108 from our Medicare so not too bad!
In the meantime he has sent a letter to my Optometrist to have new Lenses fitted to my existing glasses ( More Money ) until the Op is due, after which i will again need new Lenses! What a palava. No Medicare rebate on Lenses !
After the drops were put in it was not as bad as i thought ,and could well have driven home ,but thanks to my next door Neighbor he was there. I have a whole lot of information and another form to fill out ( 5 pages in fact) to return to the Hospital on Friday this week,so as they can get the ball rolling to put me on the waiting list!
Now here is something funny, as i sit here Typing i have no Glasses on,and can see exactly what i am doing ?? If i put on my Glasses then all is Blurry, must be the Drops that have opened the Pupils , as things are as clear as can be have not had this clear Vision for Months! How strange!
I suppose it will wear off soon though!
Oh well that it for now , now again its the waiting game for yours Truly.
Cheers
Vernon, the system must be different between Vic and NSW.
Here in Vic they are often done under Medicare and with very little waiting time.
Terri had both done as did a couple of mates of mine, all in a very timely manner and on Medicare.
But I think a lot depend s on your GP who makes the referral and the one doing the op.
RE: It will wear off soon though!
Been told that twice now, years ago on holiday in Portugal, had hired a car or the next day.
My partner whom used her hands a lot, managed to scratch my eyeball, whilst having dinner.
I remember well turning up at the car hire with a patched eye and bandage and the look on the
chaps face when I asked for the car booked. I was meant to drive but obviously I had asked
my girlfriend to.
When my cataract came to light, had an emergency eye check, before the drops I could barely see
the person next to me, with the drops better sight than ever.
On both occasions asked for a bottle of the drops, both times was told it does not work that way and
it will wear off soon.
