    Default Canary Islands Cough

I have just come back from a cruise of the canary islands and it seems it is common for passengers of Cruise ships to get this cough.

Let me tell you it is not pleasant, every time I cough it seems to pull my insides out.The only way I can sleep is sitting up.
Everytime I lie down I start to cough.I have been taking dry cough medicine which seems to be working.

There was a couple we met onboard who live some miles away from us and they have both have this cough.
Has anyone else experienced this problem.?

Mike, the only thing you can is drink a litre of rum,
It wont cure it but you will not care you have it.

Not experience that, maybe it is just on that ship. may need fumigating.

Mike, try genuine Manuka honey. I was a sceptic but I tried it and within 3 days the cough subsided, stop taking it my cough was back within 3 days. My cough is related to my bronchiectasis for which there is no cure, but the cough has been alleviated by the honey.

If you are also getting shivers as well, go to the doctors, go anyway, it sounds very similar to a chest infection I got last year, did not sleep at all for six nights. They gave me some antibiotics and it was clear and gone within a few days. The cough medicine only aggravates a chest infection.

Could the source of the cough be due to the aircoditioning on the ship. If they are pumping out crook air to the cabin then that will have affected you. Wonder how often that they check air purity being pumped around the ships of today especially as most passengers are berthed within the ship
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.

Many of the health problems on cruise ships are brought about by passengers who do not care.

Come on board with all manner of illnesses, fail to wash their hands after the loo, or eat ashore in some very dodgy places, get sick and pass it on.

Most ships now do have a good level of hygine, many passengers do not.

Mike go see your GP, now.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

    Hi Mike.
I get that cough every time winter starts. I use Cappy's recipe and it works, get a root of Ginger clean it, then boil it in a saucepan for fifteen minutes or so along with a big spoon or two of honey, let it cool, then bottle it, take a swig every time you start coughing, also take a swig before bed, it has worked for me for the last three years.

Hi, it sounds like what they call "Cabin cough" on cruise ships, (air con) etc as suggested by Les.
However get it checked out by your G.P. as a lot of your mates on here have suggested.
    A wise move I think.
    Kind regards.
