Very pleased for you Colin. I was supposed to have my first eye op done on 25th April too but has now been put back to 6th June - its the dammed waiting which is getting me down.

Colin, you say you got the call to be at the hospital Friday... did you have the op Friday or Saturday. home sunday… when I had mine went to the clinic, was prepared, into the theatre, 15 - 20 mins later back to the room for tea and biscuits and out after about 45 minutes. It took longer to prep and so called recover than the op itself. Had both eyes done within 6 weeks
    regards, stan

    Hi Stan.
Same as me out here in Aus, only had one done but now drive without glasses after 60 years, have to have a check up for the other one soon.

My wife had hers done couple of years ago and now no longer needs her glasses.

Had a check up last year and told no change so have to wait until October for the next one.

Had to get glasses for driving though as my long distance was not so good.

Good morning Doc. What a difference the op. makes. The first thing I saw when I got home was a new telly, but it wasn't, it was my eyes! Literally everything appears different, even colours.
I now have almost excellent long distance vision, but I will have to wear glasses for reading, and I can certainly live with that.
And as for the op itself, both eyes done inside 30 minutes and even less discomfort than having a hair-cut!!
So I hope you don't have to wait too much longer, and when your turn comes, I wish you all the best.

Hi Stan, I travelled up to London on the Thursday, had a extensive examination on the Friday, and was prepped 07.30 Saturday morning and down to the theatre straight after. Both eyes done, and then into bed with, as you say tea and biccys.
Told to rest up for the remainder of the day, a quick check up very early Sunday morning, then into a taxi to Paddington.
Long time waiting but well worth it!
The surgeon who did the op. had no objection to me having 'follow ups' at my local hospital which saves me a 600 mile round trip for a ten minute check up!
    All the best Stan
