Another terrifying moment was in March 1949.

I was 14 and Mother and Dad had gone to the cinema, no TV in those days. I was home alone baby sitting my young 4 year old brother.
The a Big BANG, CRASH, the front door was smashed down and half a dozen big men charged into the house, all dressed the same, trilby hats, long ovrcoats and leather gloves, I was terrified,
One grabbed me by the throat and slapped my face, as some ran up the stairs others ran around the house.
"Where is he" he says, Who?, "Jim Aspinall, we want him for killing two men in Liverpool".
He has gone to Japan, I said, . "No he has not, he missed his ship, now where is he, "and slapped my face again and squeezing my throat.
The other men came back and said , "He is not here, "
Where are your parents, " gone to the cinema, , "Tell them we want them in the Central Police Station "
Then they left. Kid brother upstairs was screaming, I was bruised and sore from the slapping and throat squeezed.
An hour later my parents came home, , Dad went mad when he saw the front door hanging off one hinge. and smashed. "What the hell have you been doing , "? he shouts at me,
I blurted out, "Our Jim is a murderer, he has killed two men in Liverpool and is missing off his ship."
Mother collapsed, They want you at the Police
Station now." Dad had to nail the door shut and go out of the back door.
They had to walk three miles to town to the Station as the last bus had gone,
The Police kept them in all night questioning them, Mother was weeping, Jim was missing, where is he, he was 18 tears old.
Two weeks later after two weeks of fear, a letter came from the "Vancouver City" in Sardinia where they were loading for Japan. Just a usual letter from a seamen saying where the ship is going etc.
Mother ran all the way to the Police Station and showed the Police, "Yes we know , we have a man who has confessed to the murders and he is in custody," they hadn't bothered to tell us.
    What a relief that was.
The Council fitted a new door a few days later.
Jim had been in Bolton on the night of the murder saying good bye to his girl friend and when he got back to Birkenhead the ship was in the locks and he just made it, meanwhile the Police had been on checking if anyone one was missing and so Jim became a suspect.

It is a very long story, The man who confessed was acquitted, two other men were picked and charged, one was Hanged and one got ten years inside, and in 2003 George Skelly , Lou Santangeli and i went to the Court of Appeal and cleared the names of the two men who were convicted,
the Book, by George Skelly tells the full story, "THE CAMEO CONSPIRACY" an excellent read. Buy it.

Victoria, thankfully I have only had to call them once and we are only a couple of minutes from the Amos station.
They deserve a medal and great pay and recognition for the work they do.
Six years at Uni, then another 4 years before fully qualified. They have to be able to do what a doctor would do but often in very difficult circumstances.
Worth their bloody weight in gold.

Think at some time back i had posted this ?? Anway!

My Late Father when we were living in Blafour Street Cape Town, (Just me and him at the time )
One Night i was awoken by his loud shouts ,I could not make out at first what he was shouting about but later he told me what had happened!
Now none of us at home ever believed in Ghosts, but this was something that could not be explained.
He told me that he was awoken by a noise that sounded like someone was entering his Room,on awakening,he saw this Figure approaching him hands raised as if to strike my Dad.

Dad immediately threw himself sideways on the Bed and with that he heard a thump.
This is when he shouted out loud "Get away from me you Devil"

Now it was night and as we switched on the lights after the incident, there as plainly as could be seen was a definite Handprint embedded in his Pillow Case (Like it had been burnt in.)
It was impossible to get the handmark out either after trying ,with washing etc, He kept that Pillow Case for many Years. Wonder why!

To this day we have not been able to get any answers (Dad now of course long passed on Bless him)
But that was for me a scary moment indeed, and I can well imagine what Dad went through!
    Strange things do happen.
    Cheers
