What I did not see as clear was; "The law says the person for whom it has been issued must be in the car when parked in a disabled spot."
I guess this must mean at the time of commencement of parking and not during the time parked ?

Rob, the laws in UK regarding this are the same as here in Oz.
There is a significant fine for abuse of the permit but do not know how much or if it has been implemented, though a Guy I know said he has heard of a couple who were penalized fort abuse of it.
And rightly so, I do know that if you park in a Disabled parking spot without a permit the parking inspector will have no mercy on you.

Although I was aware of the Blue badges, this was only a vague knowledge.
Hence, my asking. Recently advisedthat I should have one, have the forms coming in the post.
Following this thread, to me seemed like I could park but, not leave the vehicle. Seemed pointless.
Think I have clarification now, to some extent.

It is so simple,
If a vehicle has a disabled permit showing, then the disabled person for whom it was issued must be in the car at all times when being driven, or in a disabled parking spot.
They may not be the driver, conditions may prevent that, but the rules regarding parking still apply. But they are allowed to get out of the car once parked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quite simply if the person in the vehicle does not have the right to that permit then they do not have the right to park min a disabled parking spot.
Even blind Freddy knows that!!!!
