I need a drink

Most of us at some time in our youth imbibed on occasions, some times to excess.
Often seeing the world from a different perspective, taking not of a line from the Flanagan and Allan song, 'pavement is my pillow'

Waking to see Pink Elephants at the end of the bunk, or little Green men climbing the bulkhead.

Waking with a head that you were convinced did not belong to you, and a mouth like the bottom of a bird cage. All crap and broken biscuits.
Swearing never to do that again, well not until next time.
As a result of this many of us still enjoy a drink, well normal ones do.

Last week I had to see my GP about a pain in my back, no not a knife, but frozen muscle.
Given a script for some pills and told on no occasion to drink whilst taking them.

Doc, you cannot be serious??
Oh yes, drink with this lot and you will have more than just a frozen back.

After 7 days they are working, but I am in a state of desperation.
Now when I get the wife's pre dinner drink I hold an ice cold beer can for a few minutes, just to keep the feel of it alive.


With her after dinner drink I now find myself sniffing an empty Gin bottle, woe is me.


3 more days to go, by which time it will not be little Green men climbing the bulkhead it will be me.

My GP has never stressed to me the facts. Of non drinking even on all the. Tablets I take. One time I complained that it was interfering with my glass of whiskey in the evening, and he said by all means have your whiskey in moderation. Now moderation means different things to different people, shore people think two fingers is about the limit, most seamen it is 4 fingers and the thumb for. Good measure, but who’s complaining ?. What he doesn’t know is only going to hurt me. Cheers JWS

Now they tell me, I had just paid £18 for a bottle of Grouse.

The sun must be over the yardarm somewhere Brian, so I'll be found in 30 minutes to help you power the level in that bottle of Grouse, will even bring a bottle of good Northumbria spring water with me. LOL.

Hi To add to this drink theme and old seaman is in his Chemist the Chemist asks to speak to him regarding his medication this is something that happens in the uk the chemist questioning the guy you know with this tablet you must not drink alcohol now I don`t is his reply cause I take it at 2am why 2am well i`m not drinking then is his reply a true story..
