##having been on steroids of and on for nasal problems ....which may i say i never had when i was a smoker i was more than slightly shocked while showering at 8 oclock this morning.....as i sneezed a lump of raw meat shot out my nose onto the shower deck and a torrent of blood filled the shower basin.....of course with the water in the shower it appeared like gallons of blood igot out the shower and got dressed i picked up the offending meat the size of a two pence piece and told beloved i was needing the doctor ....i showed her the meat and the state of the shower ..she rang the local surgery and i was told to come at once ...i was in the surgery in 5 minutes it is just down the road........the doc was seen at once ......you could curry it he said being ex mn he had family at sea years ago ......any way the steroids and strong steroid spray have burnt the **** out of my head.....and at the moment i feel good.....the doc is happy ...i am happy ....at 9 oclock i was back home ...i CERTAINLY have no critisim of the NHS....i can only say 5 star ....cappy

Cappy , Steroids can be BAD for your health, be careful, they also take a long time to wean yourself off them , they can cause damage,
So follow the Instructions to the letter.

I have also great faith in the NHS, they cannot help being snowed under with work. I am scheduled for my operation here on the Island on Friday morning, fingers crossed, this is the 3rd appointment, the others being cancelled. If this one is cancelled at the last minute, it means going to Southampton, they have a unit there which is helping the Island with its overload. Mine is for hernia, requiring general aenesthetic (spelling)and a couple of days stay, so should be back onboard next week, kt

When I went to see the Doc yesterday, with my various complaints and list of daily blood pressure readings, I said I"ve got another to add to the list. Whats that he said, so I went into a detailed account of the pains across by lower back, oh! he says that what you call old age. JS

A lady doctor was on TV last night I think she was from Cumbria.I think her practice used to have 6 GP's now down to 2,she said she leaves home at 7.40am and arrives home at 11.00pm how can she function doing hours like that.A guy was on our local radio yesterday he said his lady doctor said to him she felt like walking away from it and getting a job in a supermarket.A big shortage of GP's throughout the country TV programme last night showed the recruiting in Portugal.

Talked to the Doctor on a phone appointment , saves going to the surgery, she took me off one of my BP tablets so on two now instead of three , it was the `Water tablet`, not getting dizzy spells anymore. BP is normal , 120 /65, I have a Lloyds Pharmacy BP machine, £14.99 so test it once a week.
so back to being a super fit hero once again.
    Cheers
    Brian

##jim there is always one doing these sort of hours ....the problem with this is they cannot get doctors to work in general practice in cumbria.....they are advertising constantly for doctors there ...the CEO .....for this area is my next door neighbor ....he leave here very very early mon morn to go up there and come back late friday night......no one wants to go up there to work in hospitals or general practice .....such is the nature of the beast....i can find a one off in any field ....but can only say i and my family get 5 star treatment ....this story reminds me of an AB on a shields tramp in 57 who comlplained he had to have lamb twice in a week .....i knew the family in shields i dont think she ever cooked ...but jeez they coulkd drink a brewery dry ....the kids were always raggy assed ...and he went on about lamb ...there is weakness in anything if we look ....ie a bloody trident missile costing millions didnt go off .....we can find fault anywhere i can only say what i said earlier....5 star treatment in cappys world

Cappy I was being sympathetic to the lady doctor in Cumbria and the NHS in general where the lamb eating AB and the raggy assed kids come into the story I don't know.I have just returned from an appointment with my GP cannot fault the system.

    reply to cappy
    what do doctors know,
a couple of years ago after suffering headaches and dizziness my doctor diagnosed meniers desease for which I was given the necessary tablets,
after being on the tablets for a couple of weeks needless to say my head felt like it was falling off my shoulders and I was constantly having worse dizzy spells, I stopped taking the tablets and after a couple of weeks my dizziness was back to its original state where i was ok if I hung on to the bar, after some months I decided to see a specialist went along to Rodney street in Liverpool after a thorough examination was told I had lungs bordering on the superfit that I was in very good health buttttt I needed my ear syringed seems like a bad tooth some years previously had infected my jaw and that was the cause of the dizzy spells the ear was duly syringed and after paying a large bill I have not suffered since,
I would have told my doctor about my diagnoses and the ear being syringed but I don't think he had the qualification to understand he was from somewhere or other
