on a much darker note we went to visit a great lady and very good friend last night she is a hospice in Thornton Liverpool she is dying slowly of cancer and although how much she means to us I would gladly put her out of her misery she is one lady first time anyone meets her they cant get over what a lovely lady she is. its just a case of death watch and I think we will all be pleased when she passes you would not see an animal in distress like that but I truly think laws should be changed to help you on your way? just my view jp

John my brother seen his last couple of days out in the Hospice you are talking about and if you could say there is a good place to die I would say it was there.I have visited a few people at Jospice they know this is their final resting place and they are all at peace with themselves and accept that they will only be here for a short time.Quote:

A sad time in life. but a peaceful way to go.
A few years ago here a man was found dead in bed and had been there a long time, a few weeks.
On the wall next to his bed he had written "Its so sad to die alone."
I guess that says it all. In the hospice they are cared for until the end.

I don't know how they do their job, they must be very special people who do a very difficult job.. A job I wouldn't like to do.

Reading the papers today, 12 Hospitals are full to capacity, Not one bed available. some have closed A&E departments. It said the elderly have taken over one Third of all beds.
Now the Elderly in this country have paid, NI Stamps for 50 years and paid their taxes for 50 plus years, and some like me still paying Taxes after 65 years, so we have paid our way.
The last two times I was in hospital almost every bed was full of immigrants who had never paid one penny into the system. I was on one ward and the only Englishman in there, all from the Khyber regions and not knowing what a toilet was, were crapping on the floor. I had to sign myself out the stench was unbearable.
But if you complain that immigrants are taking up 50% of the beds you are accused of being a racist.. So it is easier to blame the elderly.
But is criticising the Elderly any different from criticising another race or colour?? it is still discrimination.
Us elderlies must get more militant

Here on the Island we now have one hospital only, used to be two. we also had several cottage hospitals that were all sold off. These were ideal for the elderly for recuperation. Now some bright spark has come up with the idea to rent beds in some of the hotels to prevent bed blocking. When you reach the age most of us are you realise the whole thing goes round in daft circles, kt
