    Default Time and tide..............

Went to see my Gp yesterday for my bi monthly vitamin B12 injection.
During the summer monmths I do spend alot of time in the outdoors with as little clothing as possible resulting in a lot of sun tan as well as burns. As aresult this year I have devloped a large number of 'scaly' spots on my arms and legs.
According to my GP they are 'barnacles of age'
I informed him that barnacles were something found on the hull of a ship, not on my body.

He then proceeded to spray each of about 20 such spots with liquid nitrogen from a presurised spray gun.
It a couple of days time they will all fall off he told me. I assume he means the spots and not my arms and legs.

Apart from the pension and now barnacles what else comes with age?
    Happy daze John in Oz.

If the arms and legs go John what re you going to type with ?

One thing that does go is the ability to recover quikly from minor injuries , every knock takes ages to get over .

    Hi Vernon.
you said you were on blood pressure tablets AGAIN!,
You go on Blood pressure tablets and STAY ON them. Blood pressure is a silent killer. you feel good BUT you could have a stroke or heart attack at any time. I have been on them for near 20 years now, 3 a day. no probs, my blood pressure is always around 130 over 65.
I excercise every day, do a little weight lifting and cycle on my excercise bike for an hour, helps to keep me fit.
NEVER have salt in your diet, Salt is a Killer, I have No salt in the house at all now for the last 15 years or so.
Salt bangs up the blood pressure, it is only used as a flavour enhancer and so with a good diet, good cooking you do not need salt in your food. and you will live longer. Which gives you more time to save up for your funeral.
    .
I have a lot of sun damaged skin even tho I try to stay out of the sun. I have to wear a hat at all times in the sun as I get "scabs" on my head, my legs are covered in patches of brown scaly skin, look like a croc, underneath.
Have to use a medical moisturiser every day.
I have a hospital appointment at the Salford Royal Hospital Dermatology Dept. a week on Monday to have my skin seen to. I had skin cancer across my chest last summer , now cleared.

Started to get arthritus now in the hands and legs, very painful at times.
    The price of growing old,
BUT Far better than the alternative. I know too many guys who never did.
I nearly died last year in Honolulu so every day is now Magic,.
Dont drink now just a glass of wine on a Saturday and Sunday with dinner. and stopped smoking 25 years ago so not too bad for 79, outlived my parents, so thankful.

    Have a nice day
    Brian.

#6- agree, Kong, about the blood pressure medication- I think I've been taking them since I was fourteen! Apart from AF,type 2 diabetes, unstable angina, raised cholestoral, claw hand, gout, ED- everything seems to be ticking over quite nicely, still above ground.

I was refered to the Hematology Dept.at my local hostpital.Blood tests showed red and white cell count well above what they should be,I was sent to have some bone marrow taken for tests.Bone marrow results showed platelets way above what they should be,definite treatment needed!!!Five tablets a day prescribed and another exam in two weeks. After just over a week I packed all the tablets in because of side affects, next hostpital visit blood tests taken all results came back clear red and white normal platelets normal how do you work that out???
