John, Brings to mind a great mate i had ashore and sailed with on 3 occasions. Always any excuse to hold the bar keys. Poor guy was dead at 52yrs old. I attended his funeral 10yrs ago he had 4 daughters that walked behind his coffin aged 15yrs to 5 yrs. But as they say mate it takes no prisoners ? There but for the grace of god go i. Regards John Terry.

To be honest John I never had a bevie in the Pig & Whisle aboard ship never did like Watney's Red Barrel. Ashore of course a different story. Turned to in the A.M. far to often with a case of the mal de booze.
These days it's wine with all meals, ( no not brekkie) although I do eat a little often ha! The liver is standing up well due I think to my old Granddad passing on the right genes, he played the euphonium in the village band. They practised nightly in The Queens Arms much to granny's dismay.
Lunch with a drop of Aussie red calls me, so cheers for now to one and all.

Neil, I must have swallowed an euphonium. Although by present day standards drink very little cant afford it. Was a heavy smoker and drunk anything if available, up until about 45 years of age. Hard to believe thats 32 years ago, they say only the good die young. Dont think could of ever of become an alcoholic like some I knew, as when had drunk enough was always sick. Smoking was the big one to stop, It would take all my pension today to keep me up in cigarettes the amount I used to smoke. Cheers the sun is well over the yardarm now about 3 hours after yours, nothing in the fridge though. John S

G'day Charlie I'd like to think I could do the same thing.
