Good luck, Gordon. As a former prostate cancer patient (now, apparently, on the mend) like Richard, I ,too, hope that for you the fates are kind and that on Wednesday the results of the scan are good.

I had a cancerous tumour removed from the colon last October .The operation was a success but unfortunately a trace of cancer could not be removed so I was put on a course of Chemotherapy Tablets and at the conclusion was told thankfully that it seems the Cancer has gone but I would be seen again by the Specialist in Four months time. I had a wonderful team of Specialists ,Doctors and Nurses looking after me.

    Hi All.
I got prostate cancer 20 years ago my blood count was 9 I asked the Dr what if it had always been like that, he said well we will leave it for three months and see, it went up to 19, a surgeon wanted to operate but I looked for an alternative and had three months radio therapy, my count went down to zero, but after a year or so started climbing so now I get a hormone implant every three months, I have a blood test every year and it is going up by such a minute amount the Dr said you'll be 150 before we have to do anything. But I have lovely breasts ha ha.
    Cheers Des and keep living.

    Hi Des,

About three or four years ago I too opted for Radio Therapy to treat my prostate cancer. Like you, immediately following the treatment my PSA reading dropped dramatically and my last blood test showed a reading of 1. Soon I am due a further test which will, I hope, show further improvement...we shall see. Right now, I'm thinking of Gordon and the awful feeling of apprehension he will be experiencing at this moment. I do so hope it goes well for him.

On a lighter note, perhaps, I noted, with a chuckle, that as a result of medical treatment you too have been 'blessed' with a nice set of boobs! Well, mate, my own little lovelies developed courtesy of a steroid puffer I must use each morning and evening (for the rest of my life, too, can you imagine?...Sabrina, eat your heart out). It's all part of my treatment for emphysema which, thankfully, is not too severe ( I have 70% of normal breathing capacity, courtesy of all those duty free fags all those years ago). Now, while on the subject of boobs, I was thinking that since your only about a 6-8 hour drive away by car, I might come down there one day so we can have what the kids of today call a 'Show and Tell' or as we once knew it 'I'll show you mine if you show me yours'......and if you're really good I'll show you my new Wonderbra......it's so comfy, I think you'll like it too!

    ...............Roger

Had something cut off my voice box last year, they never even told me what it was, I assume by receiving no info. it was non malignant. Took the wife to get a cancer spot cut off her forehead last week and tomorrow the stitches come out. She is absolutely terrified of hospitals so will have my work cut out. When I finally got her home after the op. and she saw the scar on her face she passed out again. She"s always been like that as long as I've known her, when I tell a doctor this they dont believe me until they see for themselves and then they start and worry. John S

The last PSA test i had was ok, the doctor was saying that most of us old guys will die with prostate cancer, but not from it. Other things will get us first. Oh well, thats my cheer up thought for the day. But on a serious note, i wish all the guys having treatment the best of luck, KT
