treeboats
i joined the trevaylor 1971 liverpool, they where actually tied up two abreast in the huskisson dock, hard to believe.them tree boats had a character of there own as des says different crew everytime they sailed.we changed her colours on her funnel she was on charter to harrisons of lpool ,two of fat one of lean.what a trip, there was every one in the mix as most treeboats did.scousers/geordies/taffs/jocks/cockneys/paddys/the village idiot on deck came from devon,he decided to pick off the biggest shark i ever witnessed over the **** end with a hand full of shackles, didnt manage one direct hit just emptied the focs:le of shackles. we where at anchor in the carrabean somewhere.we went to just about every paradise island in the carrabean, all the little saint islands.barbados, trinidad, granada, great crew great bosun guy known as cockney sparrow.typical old tramp ship and crew, many a time i put the chippie on the shake fast asleep grease gun attatched to his ear.absolutely brilliant trip full of very fond mems.payed off back in lpool 4 months later.they actually paid me for my troubles, happy days glenn good health all ted.

"Trelawney"
I wonder if any of you St Ives Fans can help me, in early January 1957 I was in the gulf(first trip) on" British Crown" whilst alongside some of us crew were invited on board the Trelawny they made us very welcome I remember.
But, although I am sure that I was told she was built in 1928 I am now not so sure of the ship it was definitley a Hain boat andThe only "Trelawney" I can find of that period was lost in ww2 as I have put an essay about my trip on another site I would like to make sure of my facts...Can anyone help..Regards, Alan

Hello Alan,
Could it possibly have been the Trelawany as this was a later Ship with similar name! No "E" in it!
Cheers

Not sure!
Hi again Alan,
Well this little bit might make it right??
SS Trelawney United Kingdom collided with SS Gaelic Prince United Kingdom in thick fog. All crew saved but the ship's cat perished.[1]
November 1926
This was the First Trelawaney!
Cheers

Trevaylor
Joi ned the Trevaylor in Smiths dock North Sheilds summer of 1963 came back spring of 64.Full Geordie deck crowd catering staff and firebars, typical BOT feeder allways hungry, but we had a good chief cook by the name of Peter Horsebourgh Bosun was Tucker o halloran some of the deck lads i rememder John Morgan Jimmy Paterson Jimmy Nailen<meet him 20 odd years later skipper on acoastal tanker>Harry Beddows Davy Carruthers Hoss Finkle Brian Waller.Spent 10 hours a day putting shifting boards up down the hatches in preperation for loading grain in New Orleans for Japan.Ran from there to Makatea in the Society Islands to load phosphate back to Japan done tat 3 times then back across the Pacific and loaded timber in British Colombia for Surrey Commercial.Great run but not a happy ship hence the 6 drs and 2 vncs when we paid off.But looking back after some 45 years i would do it all again
