The Hain Line
Tregenna Place
St Ives
St Ives once had its very own shipping company called The Hain Line. From the 1850s, Captain Edward Hain, who was from a long line of local fishermen, built up a small fleet of sailing ships. The company later switched from sail to steam and expanded rapidly. During 1906–c1930, these premises were the Hain Shipping Office and then the Hain Estate Office. The building later became part of Curnow’s Hotel and then a nightclub, in 1978.

Re: Hains of St. Ives
I tend not to eat at Wetherspoons, though the buildings they have taken over / use/ saved are usually unique. One in St. Albans was amazing, did eat at that one. Enjoyed it. Have used the crossing for years in and out of Wales and recently for a change went via the older bridge stopping at Chepstow. The Wetherspoons at Chepstow was a great stop over did eat and loved the local dishes, Cawl (Traditional soup) Faggots, rarebit etc. Locally, here I do pop in on occasions and burger and chips including a pint for a fiver is not bad when shopping.
Though I have not eaten at the Tower Hill branch, it is always packed with old friends for the MN service and a great meeting place.

St Ives Museum
The Museum is located in the heart of the old St Ives fishing community of Downlong. Formerly the building housed a Pilchard Curing Cellar, Bible Christian Chapel then a laundry and cinema.
The British Sailors Society Mission occupied the first floor until 1968 when the St Ives Museum were offered space. Over the next few years the famous Troika Pottery vacated the ground floor enabling the museum to expand further. This independent museum is administered entirely by volunteers. 'I was advised by a very learned elderly friend of mine that this museums is one of the top three he has ever visited in his life. He was not wrong! Thank you' 'A must see treasure trove for every St Ives visitor'.
