Default Tapping a card, or fast elotronics

On Australia day we went up the RSL for dinner, my wife tapped her bank card to pay for it, when we sat back down she said ,"I'm sure tapped it twice," I said wait until we get the bank statement it will show up there, Sure enough she had tapped $36 twice.
I saw the Accountant at the Club and showed her the bank statement, she said I will put the money on your wife's Club card it is easier tat way, which she did, later she came to see me and showed me the till receipts and it only showed one $36 payment, I said I would go down the bank next week and check it out. It looks like in that split second between the till switching off the card machine and my wife tapping it the second time the number was in.
I don't know about AI but some things can happen in flick of an eye. Ten years ago I went to the news agent for a new ticket from my Computer as normal, when I went to put it in they said this ticket has been already used, a woman in Adelaide 3,000 miles away had put the same number into her mobile phone at the same time as I tried to put it on my Computer, I was given another ticket by the shopkeeper but she never told me if she was reimbursed for the other one.
Talk about loosing money in the blink of an eye.

At times it can be easy to press the wrong key and pay an incorrect amount.
But getting that corrected is another story, not so easy!!

On one occasion found a payment on my account that was not mine.
Bank was very good, stopped the payment and issued me with a new card.
Then the problem of notifying all my direct debit accounts.

Have a bank App on my phone so can check accounts at any time anywhere.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Few years ago we got our credit card statement and on it was a large amount for school uniforms to a private school in Sydney. It took months to get it fixed. It appeared that the person taking the card details had put our number in instead of the person purchasing said uniforms and did not want to admit that they had stuffed up. I am a strong advocate for only using cash. If using the internet I use PayPal that is linked to an account at my bank. In that account is a couple of dollars to just keep it open. When I purchase anything I transfer said amount into that account. I also managed to cancel the secondary means of paying by credit card with PayPal so that it can only take money from that account. Hence I am soon made aware if a purchase is made.
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.
