Floods in your house is not good.
But you appear to have some great insurance comp-any on your side, good on ya.
Yes blocked drains often caused by water companies not doing the right thing and regularly clearing them.
All manner of debris can go down the drain, some causing the blockage.
Tell them what you think if it continues.

#11 John our local council just purchased a state of the art drain sucker/washer/cleaner recently. Now all they have to do is find a state of the art driver operator to use it .I watched the current operator use the machine and he rendered this beautiful piece of equipment useless .He obviously had no idea about drains or how to operate the equipment.

We have ha one of those in Cooma since we came to live here, comes around our street once a month, I suppose it is on the go most days,
Hve had bad floods in the town but that is the creek overflowing in heavy rain.

#13 Des i checked the drains with a powerful torch that i keep in the car, and none of them were cleared ,as for #12 add this to complete the comment .As for your comment i assume the creek was there before the town .Large developers here in England like Barrett and Laing purchased large amounts of land known to be flood plain and built medium sized estates all over the country. The result is now very clear. The last one i saw being built was in Dartford near marsh land and the Thames .It flooded as the site was being developed .A large pump had to be installed to clear the water, its still there.
