Toady in the news a report from the international committee on climate change.

The demand for power over the last 12 months was at a record level, and emissions still rising despite all the changes taking place.

Not good news for the followers of the climate cult, many of whom would not have a bloody clue what the climate is where they abide.

But with an ever increasing global population power demand will continue to grow. Global population now at about 801 billion, far cry from the 2 billion in 1920, or the 4 billion in 1980.
No matter what man does he will never create enough power required with just renewables no matter how he tries. Men like our power minister here who thinks we can be come a world renewable power house.
The opposition has put forward a proposition for nuclear power, used but more than 30 countries now, but ridiculed by some gov members in a most juvenile manner.

But at the same time while the demand for EV is there it is in decline. We have thousands sitting at arrival ports with no demand for them.
Hybrids however are doing reasonably well.

So where will this all end, in an ever increasing row between the various parties on how to resolve the problem.

Any ideas, on a post card to your nearest 'greenie'.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

Wont go into Climate Change as dont know enough of that, but as far as the new announcement Re" Nuclear Power Plants , on this i will say that i do agree with it being Built. Although it wont solve the ever increasing demand for Energy i know, it will i feel improve the Status of this Country at least!
In South Africa they have had Nuclear Power in Cape Town especially for many Years now and i must say over the long period it has managed to help tremendously around the Western Cape at least!

In all as well it has been a safe Project and there have been no incidents over any spillage etc.

So yes i do think that Nuclear Power will be beneficial here, and will help keep down Emissions >
    Thats just my Vision !
    Cheers

Renewables with Nuclear power is the only way to solve a lot of electricity needs.
A down side of nuclear power apart from the obvious, is when iet comes to decommissioning old Nuke plants . It will take 20 to 30 years to render the plant safe.

We have all these fossil fuels the UK alone has enough untapped coal reserves to last over a 150 years, but yet we still import coal daft or what!!
Natural Gas, there are vast reserves all round the world. Australia for instance 1% of the worlds gas reserves Natural gas can b e used to generate Hyrodgen , why not use it to add yet another green energy industry for power and transport needs.
Were there is a will there is always a way.

I agree with you Doc , due to the amount of regulation imposed by the international Atomic energy authorities they are a lot safer than people think . Even ESKOM in South Africa didn’t manage to shut down Kroeber power station through poor management. The real answer is the smaller Modular reactors which are much quicker to build and get on line . It is considered to be clean as even the big station don’t produce a lot of radioactive waste a fraction of the waste produced by the big Coal stations. Eskom use wind and solar to back up power production when Koeburg has its rod changed every couple of years . Don’t know if it’s a 100% coverage as it’s difficult to tell with rolling outages in SA.

#3 I have been working on equipment for a Hydrogen plant being built in the “magic Kingdom “ Saudi as part of the NEOM mega project it is truly Green as it is Solar powered. I agree more should be invested in hydrogen even if it is NG powered The west has the Technology why sell it to parts of the world where it will be shipped 1/2 round the world and be subject too OPEC price hikes and lows. We will still be in the same boat as we are with oil.

The work I did was through Air Products, Engineering ,procurement in their India Office It and another Hydrogen plant in Canada (NG in Canada managed by AP US ) uses their Licence technology. It could be Another construction partner in Saudi maybe JGC ,I don’t know the full consortium. Hope that Helps.

Thanks Doug, I appreciate that. We have contacts at JGC and the other major engineering houses but I havn't heard anything mentioned about that project, so will pass on to my colleagues.

Just watched the interview with the shadow minister for energy on Insiders. Came across as they do not have a bloody clue where they are going with nuclear. Seems that there will be seven plants around Australia and each plant could have about five nuclear plants in each one so that means thirty five in total. Loved the way he explained that consumers would benifit with cheaper power bill from these government run reactors that are going to cost the taxpayer billions. Call me a sceptic, but does that not mean that the public will be paying for not only the build but also running costs. So we could end up with free electricity but paying more in tax's for that luxury. Talk about robbing Peter to pay Paul. Lets cut to the chase. It is all about winning the next election as they have had nearly a decade to have come up with this idea but did feck all in fact they ditched their original energy policy years ago. As for the EV con that is going on in Oz, it seems that there is movement afield where they are doing away with building any more EV in favour of hydrogen power. Have always said that they are using Australia as a dumping ground for the EV's
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.

    HI Les.
People in Aus seem to forget the nuclear plant in a Sydney suburb; used for both medical purposes and experiments for health purposes, there has been an on going concern for the sealed bins of atomic waste that is pilling up there so close to Sydney. Where is the dickhead going to put his waste material, I think that is the first thing Dutton should tell the electorate. One only has to remember what happened in Fukushima. I do know one thing, it wont be in the richest woman's massive cattle spread.

PS He said one would be at the head of the river for the whole of the Sydney basins water table.
