As in other posts most working class families as said in previous posts did not go along with his views at wars end, as considered him a war monger. In retrospect looking back to his beliefs in most things though the world situation may have been different today if voting had gone the other way. He had no time for De Gaulle and as for Russia wanted to carry on so it was said. Only the fact that Hitler broke his word to Stalin , and Russia would have been part of the Axis team itself. The breaking of his word once again was the Ukraine. JS.

#15 John there is one difference between a Democratic government and a non Democratic government, a National Strike will bring a Democratic government out, a non Democratic government will bring the army out with life ammunition. JS.

We can have democracy as it is and continue to moan about the polis we elect.
Or we could in a dictatorship with the hope we live a long life.

Every human on this earth since time for humans began has had to have someone or something to look up to and at least to give them a reason for being there. Most invented themselves religions which gave them a sense of belonging . Some wanted to be that object themselves, and thus was born our poitician. A ships figurehead was a prominent feature in early shipbuilding . A dictatorship is an abomination and is only significant to those seeking power over others . A ships figurehead is more welcome. What we have at present and long may it last is a Democratic way of life and is well worth fighting for to retain. Cheers JS
