    Default Post Office Scandal.

The ex chief whether male or female must have had a guilty feeling to hand in the CBE. This is the least which could have been done to express their guilt.

What’s the story there Fouro. Handing in an Award doesn’t do much , it would of been removed from the bearer for any dishonour it brought whatever crime was committed , not necessary the jewel itself , that the bearer could possibly keep , but all records of the award Would be made null and void their name would be obliterated on all records of having received . In the very top echelons of this particular Order which is given for distinguished service to the arts, literature, science, and sport. It is also awarded to members of the Merchant Navy, the Special Constabulary, those doing Charitable work in Welfare organisations and to State servants. There is a Civilian List and a military list . The top class of the Order is limited to 27 military and 73 civil members. Since 1957 medals awarded for gallantry as opposed to merituous service , have been distinguished by the addittion of an emblem composed of two silver oak leaves. Who is the character sending his/hers back , there is really no need to as previously said , their name would be delineated from the books in any case for misbehaviour if necessary. Or was it done in a fit of pique for some
    reason ? JS

#1, I bet she will not hand back the £400,000 golden handshake she got when she left the post office. I am sure she will be on a good pension as well.
In some media outlets she was being considered for Bishop of London in 2017.
So being an ordained priest straight to Bishop. Would that not be a bit like going from 3rd Eng to Chief eng?

A disgusting state of affairs, but probably goes on a lot more than most people think. The banks can be of a similar nature, there word is often final, simply because they know better. Same goes for many other big businesses.

Hi Jonny. In the early days of internet banking people were reporting monies being withdrawn from their accounts without their knowledge. The banks said it was not possible!! Now they know you don't need a gun to rob people just a computer key board.

Rather than write a very, very long post about this scandal I can describe what it is all about in one sentence.
" It is one of the most widespread miscarriage of justice ever known in Britain".
Rather than blame the dodgy Japanese software (computers) the Post Office blamed sub postmasters and mistresses for bad bookkeeping and stealing money.
This ruined the lives of these people. The PO even forced them to plead guilty.
This scandal came to light in the years between 1999 and 2015.

Re Handing in an award, in this case the CEO of the PO handing in her CBE. Cases such as this are taken to Whitehall and put before special people who decide whether whoever handed the award in, is either stripped of it or keeps it. I would mention the Monarch has no power to do this.

It’s not the Monarch who proposes the Award either it is the P.Ms advice given to the Monarch through the ritual that has always been carried out. Years ago the only Awards that the monarch gave out are listed if anyone wants to know can give them. It is public knowledge but the average person is not that interested and just casts misinformed information on. However they are part of the British Heritage and Britain would not be Britain anymore as has already given too much of its past heritage away to the weasels of this world, or the complainers and sea lawyers. One PM at one time was accused of selling them to foreign persons and got away with it was for donations to the party funds . Won’t mention what party as that would raise inflammatory ire’s. Those who can remember , the Beatles sent their MBEs back , I suspect this was purely because they thought they weren’t big enough, some idiot PM jumped in later and agreed to their probable demands
Maybe he needed the Brownie Points from the public to stay in office. Cheers JS

    John.
Was on our TV news, postal workers where sacked jailed and generally treated like criminals, some doing jail time, now they found out it was all a load of Bo67oks. And as usual the head at the time has handed in her award but as someone said not her hugs payout.
