vern further to your concern about solar panels there is another benefit with them. We got them installed and the installer wanted to put metal frames on our roof to increase the angle of them. I refused as I could see them being prone to high winds. So had them installed with the same angle as the roof. Now the benefit we got from that is? Because they now have a gap between the panels and roof it acts as insulation when the current bun is beating down and reduces the temp in the house. Due to the fact that there is nearly always a breeze between them. One thing that does need attention is to make sure that you keep them clean as mildew or some other crap grows on them after a while rendering them not as affective as they should be. As an aside. Even if they become obsolete will keep them for there insulation

The gov tells us just how houses now have Solar panels.
Well, not sure where they look but there are no where near as many as they say.
When we had the first 6 fitted we were getting 66 cents per Kwh for all we put back into the grid.
Now down to about 11 cents and falling.
For many the cost of installing is such that it may take up to 10 years before they are in front.
Looked into a battery for the house.
Told by the company that with out power usage it would take 17 years to gain any benefit.

I see the first all wood wind turbine has been put to use.

I have an old bike up on stocks connected to an old car battery ready for my wife to peddle when I want to watch TV. Well that's the thinking from that huge meeting in Saudi Arabia, they spread moreglobal warming with the hundreds of planes to take them there and back than I would use in 100 lifetimes.

Today the state gov said there are 3 million solar panels on houses in Victoria.
From what I see I very much doubt that.
But if they add the compulsory on all new houses, solar assisted hot water panel then maybe.

Costings out to day for an EV.
If you charge at home, run a dish washer and washing machine each day the cost will be about $20 per day.
That is about $1800 per quarter.
My total annual bill is only about $700, so much for owning an EV.

I still reckon that with other fuel sources coming on line for vehicles that Australia is becoming the dumping ground for them before they too are fazed out. As for solar I made sure that I got net metering for mine which is a case that I only put back into the system what I do not use first. Yes power bill has gone up it came in at $83 for the quarter this time but less than the $100 one before I got the panels cleaned. That is with a sheriff that just loves that bloody A/C all the time.

Depending on weather they can be good.
Our rebate for the quarter was $89, happy with that.
Total was only $115.

Up country over new year in areas where some farms run to thousands of acres, I think it will be many a long year before EV can work as well as ICE can.
