The Northern Co-opererative Society Ltd. It was independent of the CWS. It was founded around 1868 and lasted until the 1990's A smart ass bean counter and a poor board of directors brought to its knees. At its height it was the largest retailer in Aberdeenshire. They had their own dairy, bakery and for supply of coal their own collier S.S. Thrift. In the 1950's they paid out a dividend of 2/3p in the pound. My mother's # 29864. When we were married in 1970, purchased a one share dividend, I found it with other papers a few months back.

I remember the tin checks we got for each spend there.
Once a year counted them up and a divi was paid depending how much you spent in the year.

Eggs in paper bags, cheese cut from a block, bacon cut on the slicer and all the prices counted up on the side of a sugar bag.

At one point Keith my youngest daughter, hubby and I all had the same pin number for our debit cards! Now my grandchildren know it - to gain access to my laptop for approved word games.

Passwords, I have 38 of them.
All written down on a sheet of paper carefully hidden so I am the only one knows where it is.
Just about every one you have to deal with now wants a pass word to gain access.
Might have to leave myself a note to show where I have it hidden.
Then there are the numbers for the phone, and the ATM, how many more of these bloody things do I need?
