BBC funding 2021-2022 was & £5.33b of that 71% was funded by the TV licence, £1.53b or 29% was generated by the commercial arm of the BBC.

Re: Gary Lineker
Not really sure why people balk about paying the TV licence. Now I will say I think the removal of an automatic free licence from the over 70's was a mistake.
I pay it on monthly direct debit £13.25 a month so £159 a year. Personally I think it is good value compared to the likes Sky TV £27.00 a month then if you want sports channels that is another £27+ depending on the package you opt for, another rip off is BT TV.
BBC over 4 TV channels multiple regional TV channels and radio stations, there is also BBC I player. Also with Free Sat there are 170 TV & Radio channels.
I have also got an Amazon fire stick and through a friend of a friend I can stream live sport.
Still say no one does sport or the likes of Animal planet type programmes, current affairs prorgammes better than the BBC.

Re: Gary Lineker
Not sure what BBC is like in Uk but we do get a few good progs from there at times.
Here in Oz our ABC is so low in the polls now it is a wonder it keeps going.
But with an input of just over $1 billion a year from the tax payer and some 42000 staff we expect far better than a left wing extension of all the nations loonies.
Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Gary Lineker
the licence fee is now £172
all the pensioners should Strike and refuse to pay
After paying £2,000 Council Tax and then income tax there is little left out of a miserable MN pension

Re: Gary Lineker
Sorry Brian you are wrong the TV licence is currently £159 , I pay mine on direct debit @£13.25 a month. There are moves afoot to increase it by £13, so perhaps that is were you get your £172. There is currently a 2 year freeze on the licence fee and is due to end at the end of 2024.

Not at all old son ... have you ever considered that your name could be synonymous with a back street Indian take-away in the depths of Mumbai.
Sense?
Yours' appears to have left you bereft.
Enough said.

Well get you just another racist Tory. I don't suppose your old man was called, Ben - my - Chree and he had a dalliance with a Manx Maid, hence the Douglas Bay. Mind you if I think on Douglas is a Scots name!! suppose it could be worse imagine having a name like Phil McCracken.
Now now don't upset yourself just teasing !!!
