#40 Be grateful you aren't in New Guinea they have low testing and immunisation rates and their "hospitals" are being overwhelmed with serious cases while running out of oxygen. Very grim.

Yes unfortunately many Countries are still in the very thick of this terrible Virus, and it is still going to take a long time before we see a real drop or at least control World Wide.

Just heard from my Sister in South Africa, how many are really dying there on a daily basis, the News does not apparently show the true figures, with hundreds each day just getting loaded on to Trucks and taken away to mass Burial sites. These are sorry to say the ones that all still live in terrible places with just shacks for cover, very little good Health conditions , and all so closely bunched up together. Its terrible that still in this day and age this is happening there, but of course they are not the only place like that!

We can only hope that things will improve on all sides and that People all over in the Future will have much safer and more Healthier Conditions to Live in!

Well today we hit a new record, biggest number across the nation with it, 2297 out of about 80,000 tests.
We are now getting more cases than last year but with fewer testing stations????

Opening up will still go ahead though as the factor now is the number fully vaccinated, not the number of cases.

But yes, some countries will take years to recover, then again Fiji and Bali are saying they are now open for tourists??

We hear very little now of what is happening in countries such as India, or Brazil both had very bad times.

But those who specialise in this still say by this time next year it will b eno worse than the Flu or a bad cold!!!!!!!!!
Just don't hold your breath on that one!!

The UK is now the highest rate of new infections and deaths in Europe unless things have changed in the last week.
Two Parliamentary committees this week have said the late closure of borders have caused 1000's of unnecessary deaths here in the UK. This guy is now in charge of Health , looks as if he is waving us oldies and the vulnerable goodbye Sad bas.jpg

In the UK today over 46,000 new cases of Covid, that is the highest since mid July. Good luck Australia as you come out of lockdown. I think your national government need to be banning Brits entering Australia.

Well there may be all the thousands of reported Covid infections, but at least week on week death rates are falling. In fact it is becoming indistinguishable at times from flu. That of course can still be worrying in any year, not just during a pandemic for we oldies or immunity-compromised people.A nurse working in my local hospital says that in the Covid specific ward it's a bit of a worry that about 60% of the Covid cases they see are in the over 60's who have been double-jabbed!

At least in Britain we are not hiding our true Covid figures, unlike China and Russia and perhaps one or two other European 'Union' nations.......

#47 Graham, You mention 60% are over 60's who have been doubled jabbed. Here the highest group are the 20/40 age bracket and not vaccinated.
Vaccination rates in the UK have bombed, okay I grant you that a lot of the population have been double jabbed but in May we had a 7 day average 591,000. In October we are down to 56,000. On 7th July we had 46,000 new cases 2 weeks later we were down to 25,000 new cases Then holiday season kicked in and since then numbers have been climbing they did drop mid September now mid October they are 10,000 a day higher.
We are heading for a 4th wave and I reckon there will be another lockdown.
Regardless it is a worrying trend especially as if you say older people are now accounting for 60% of new cases and especially if they have been double jabbed.
Big mistake not to still make it mandatory for wearing masks also what is the problem with having to have a Covid passport.
    Anyway all stay safe.

Here in Oz we are slowly opening the borders as numbers fall.
But we are well aware that numbers may well rise again.
Vaccination passports will be required in many instances and the number of companies making vaccination compulsory grows daily, no jab , no work.
Not a problem with that as any one in contact with the public should be vaccinated.

Friend of ours has a nurse as daughter in law working 12 hour shifts in full PPE with only two half hour breaks.

We have to get bused to living with this virus, it is not going anywhere any time soon.
Life has to continue, we cannot live as prisoners any longer.

Yes there will be new cases, yes some will die but that is life, we have had, and will have again, other viruses just as bad.
Smallpox, Aids, Ebola, still with us, and even such as Measles can kill.

South Africa just as it was in India are burrying in mass grave sit is so bad.

But both countries doctors will tell you have diseases they do not yet understand.

I want to live what years I have left doing what I want to do, yes it may be a bit of a risk at times, but going for a drive can be just as risky some times.

Pass the cotton wool, don't want to get hurt. LOL

I would be interested to know what type of vaccine was given (two jabs) to people who still got Covid?
    Pfizer, Moderna or AZ??
The first two are DNA vaccines.
AZ was like old vaccines, one gets a small amt. of the deactivated virus to stimulate the body's immune response.
