Post "a Channel Lifeboat Taxi Service !

Sorry.Twitter not allowing distribution of the intended video clip. It showed the Ramsgate lifeboat returning to port with a lot of cross-Channel immigrants aboard after rescue in the Channel. A sad state of affairs .

It's alleged that Border Patro boats switch off their AIS, when entering French waters to pick up immigrants.

The Government plans to increase the tariff for people smugglers, with those found guilty facing life behind bars – up from the current maximum of 14 years.

John. No,that was a week ago when the Border Patrol allegedly or otherwise brought over immigrants handed to them by the French.

I am referring to a few days ago when the Ramsgate RNLI lifeboat rescued a sinking boatload of immigrants in the Channel. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution has hit back after it received criticism for rescuing a boat in distress with 20 migrants on board. The search and rescue charity drew criticism over the weekend after some newspapers published images of its lifeboats returning from saving people who had been attempting to cross the English Channel to the UK.
It was suggested that entering French waters to save lives was not the charity’s responsibility.

    Taxi service

Nigel Farage, the former UKIP leader and seven-time failed parliamentary candidate, posted a photo on Twitter of the Ramsgate RNLI lifeboat full of refugees and/or migrants.
He said: “Sadly the wonderful RNLI in Kent has become a taxi service for illegal immigration, to the dismay of all involved. What a state of affairs”.
The story was covered by newspapers including the Daily Mail.

But in a statement on Monday the RNLI insisted it was its mission to “save lives at sea . . . without judgment of how they came to be in the water”.

That is the problem when they are in the water and in trouble.
Do you help or leave them?
We had similar problems here but our ARN ferried the boats back to Indonesia where they came from.
We have not had any boats for over two years now.

Yes John, they are in a no win scenario, you get locked up if you go anywhere near the border and you get locked up if you try to leave without permission.
I have had three or four trips there for business since coming ashore and it is not somewhere you would enjoy visiting, the people are ok and very hospitable but very wary about who might be listening in to their conversations.
