Re: TV Licences.
JS, #36 HMC&E in Scotland in my day always had their own warrant stored in each main office, it was know as a Writ of Assistance, very carefully used, the police never liked this right that we HMC&E officers had that they did not, This was for UK wide use by HMC&E

Re: TV Licences.
Don't know about anyone else but our TV watching time is down to about ten hours a week, only to keep in touch with what's going on with Covid, any other time we watch our big stock of DVDs, with the odd Escape to the Country Programs.

Re: TV Licences.
A few years ago, I paid £12 as my share of a community license, this was for 12 months.
If Aunty needs a few bob, a similar charge for the aging community would still rake in a
fortune.

Re: TV Licences.
Yes no license here in Oz, though many long years past there was.
But like the BBC our ABC is fast going down the tube, most programs are set for a particular type of person, not the average one.
How long the gov can keep supporting them is questionable.
Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Re: TV Licences.
Programmes on Aunty are not that bad and now so many other channels a lot of choice.
If all is going downhill in other countries, the Beeb will still be on top.
The concern is re: charging pensioners.

Re: TV Licences.
#43, Bill, you used the expression Writ of assistance, haven't heard that in years. when I was working our force did not have them, but the Horsemen, "RCMP" did. If we were working with them and wanted to do a search warrant, that writ came in handy, just straight in, not having to chase around for a Justice to get a warrant.....of course that was forty odd years ago, times have changed and tightened up, no more writ's of assistance....Good times then....

Re: TV Licences.
The most BBC TV I've watched for quite a while was the Olympics which I thoroughly enjoyed, in my younger days I was a very competitive
all round sportsman, I would take on all comers, Conkers, Marbles, Tiddlywinks, I excelled at the YoYo endurance game. I was sad to see
none of these have been included in the Olympics as yet, but one lives in hope , cheers.

Re: TV Licences.
I wish they would include " Flick the Knife Game " in the Olympics !! LOL
Anyone remember that one , we played it in South Africa a lot especially at School, during Long Breaks at the back of the Sheds! Could be Fun , and a bit Sore at times!
