TV Licences.

I think I posted earlier about the harassment my 90 year old auntie was receiving from these idiots.
The latest twist from them this week is unbelievably crass.
My aunt died unexpectedly on 13th June, it took nearly two weeks to get all official paperwork work sorted due to covid restrictions etc. One of the facilities I utilised was called One Call, which advises all necessary departments like HMRC, pensions people etc.
They obviously advised the licencing people as I received a letter, dated 27th July, on 2nd Aug. advising me of a refund of £13.
On 4th Aug. I received a letter, written on the 28th July (one day after the first letter), making threats about the property not having a TV licence ffs.
I just hope they send someone out to check, they will be in for a rough ride.

An army of enforcers will start knocking on the doors of thousands of vulnerable pensioners this month demanding they pay £159 for their previously free TV licence – or face the ultimate threat of jail.

Masquerading as 'customer care' personnel, these debt collectors will actually be BBC debt collectors with a mission of tracking down more than a quarter of a million over-75s who have yet to pay for their TV licence.

Once they get their foot in the door, they will order pensioners to pay up. Failure to pay the bill could lead to prosecution, a £1,000 fine and prison if payment is not forthcoming.

Typical of such authorities, one half has no concept of whet the other half does.
But pick on those who are the most vunerable always appears to be how they work.

Unless the law has been changed it is not illegal not to have at licence.
It is illegal to watch terrestrial TVwithout a licence
The Bailiffs that come to your door have no right of entry, you do not have have to invite them in.

Don’t know about Scottish law Vic but it does differ from English law in some cases . In English law the customs do not need a warrant to enter your home the police do. I was issued with a warrant to attend an Inquiry by the Scottish proculators fiscal office at my home by uniformed police officers, I doubt that would have been done in English law. My daughter taught school in Scotland but to do this she had to obtain further educational qualifications. No doubt there are a lot more differences . Cheers JS

Can anyone remember what if anything happened to what was going to be captive time . Think it was brought up during the 66 strike, I went foreign flag shortly after and when returned cannot remember crossing its path. JS
