What if that was tarted up a bit and posted on the Facebook, you could make a fortune. Look out for scams.

Answered this but disappeared ....#2 what did you pay Victoria. In 1967 have posted before was ch.off.on a ship an old liberty ship converted for passengers a dozen but sometimes a bakers dozen, under the Liberian flag. Did 6 week round trip Montreal, Quebec, Halifax, Bermuda , Puerto Rico, all down the Windward Islands , to Port of Spain Trinidad, after discharge of general cargo went to Chageramus same island to load Bauxite for Port Alfred and then back to Montreal to start all over again. Have many memories of some of those passengers one in particular who must have been my present age now. Had to go ashore and drag him out of the nearest cat house in PoS for the ship sailing , the girls didn’t want him to leave. What a fight to get him out. All the trip he used to wangle his way into my cabin for what he called his nightcap, so got his life story over and over again especially about his wife dying. I found out after his escapade in PoS his wife had died 25 years previously , he must have been nearly my age now, but what a constitution he must have had. Anyhow it was $100 US daily and if you wanted a cabin to yourself it was $200 US daily. Cheers JS

Back in the late 80's there was a Russian cruise ship that twice a year did a run to London.
Had a very good friend do one, he said it was excellent and not that expensive.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

#7 That is really cheap then. I can’t really believe it was so expensive on an old liberty ship in 1967. Maybe it was the services provided. The passengers were nearly all elderly retired people who had money, the bloke I described had had two drug stores in Halifax. The girls if that’s what one could call them , a lot were ex school teachers. maybe all were looking for a last fling ? Another old male passenger an ex doctor paid the $200 dollar a day for a double berth cabin to himself and it was noted the stewardess looking after him received a very large tip on the completion of 6 weeks. The only tip I ever got was “ be kind to your mother “ JS

One thing I have noticed about passengers being interviewed on cruises they always seemed to be retired teachers, most must have been woodwork or metalwork teachers (no offence intended) as their use of the English language was deplorable. Yet when you see teachers being interviewed on other occasions they are always moaning about how poorly paid they are.

Not a world cruise as such, but this clip is the Athlone Castle in Capetown early 60s, notice how happy the crew seem. Film a bit hazy, but the boys bronzying takes me back to happy times, kt
