    Default A poem

There is a ship that sail the net with a very motley crew
British Merchant Navy, tested tried and true.
They come from all across the land they are the very best
If you look you find them North, South, East and West.

The skipper of this ship still lives by the sea
And brings this ship to us by new technology.
It brings together brothers who may never meet
But they were all together away upon the deep.

Now captain Kong sailed across the seas but accidents abound
and from the cross trees he did fall but not upon the ground
For he was on the seas working for his living
But shipping companies were well known to be not giving

With wages poor he carried on to do his very best
until the day he said no more, time for me to rest.
But still he sails the seven seas with Ann stood by his side
For the sea is still within, the land he cannot abide
With friends in foreign places still he likes to muse
But now it is so different when being on a cruise

Billy writes the books of men who went to sea in war
Who sailed the ships way into hell and then came back no more
For they did give their very best they were the very brave
But sadly now out in the sea they have their only grave

From Canadian land there came a man who said his name was Den
who said he was a baker, until some did say when
He drank the Rum meant for the cakes because he liked a drink
With essence then his Tab Nabs all came out so pink.

A bright young man from Liverpool chipping hammer in his hands
Set out across the seas to to find the foreign lands
He has a turn of humor that some may find so odd
But to the rest of us he is then just a bod
Who makes us laugh and has good cheer
Now time for him to buy the beer

In the corner with paper and glue
there sits a man the sea never knew
He pastes away to fill the day
Some just wish he would fade away

Now Cappy has a tale to tell while sitting on a barrel
Peeling spuds was his big task and one time sang a carol
But then he met with Mary and his heart was all a flutter
Until she took off the wooden leg and then walked with a stutter

He traveled far and wide with Mary by his side
Across the seas they made a trip and in one port did abide
But Mary saw another man who had a wooden crutch
So Mary went to live with him within his little hutch

So Cappy sailed the oceans wide to find that lady young and fair
He wanted her right by his side so she his life could share
But by the time he found her she had a right big problem
Her leg was full of woodworm and she now is in woblem

From far away in WA there lives a fine young sailor
He sailed on all the ships but never on a Whaler
Having sailed for England across the globe so far
It then thought it time to move to another bar.
So he sailed away to another land far better there because
The sea is warm and the beer cold in that fair of land of Oz

Our Ivan and dear Lewis have sailed the seven seas
They have a wealth of knowledge for every one to see
Just ask them how or when or where
and they will answer in a prayer

Some ladies also on this ship they really love the place
Though one from a Heathen land she still is fair of face
Will offer help to all who ask, to find a person is no task
For she will find the one long gone
and tell you if they earned a gong

The other one will give a smile
for she is from the Apple isle
A gentle lady full of grace
Who helps to keeps us all in place

A doctor from the cape then came though not a doctor by his game
He came and told us he is the administrator or Doc by name
You will do as I say we are all told
and if we stray then into the hold
For he keeps the ship in good stead and survives on ginger beer instead
While we all enjoy the gin, he thinks that is a bloody sin
He works so well with Mike who does the picture galley
The photos keep them busy and and often oh so pally
But Mike will post a ship in a frame
Then ask us all to give it a name.

So we come to the end of this poem of fun
Sorry it does not contain everyone
But to fit you all in it would need a book
Have you any idea how long that would took

But you are the best the world ever knew
Of the British Merchant Navy, Red White and Blue

And so we sail this ship on oceans calm and clean
Until we all meet again in a place called Fiddlers Green
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

And then was John The Son of a Gun
Always out to have some fun
His kind of wit was always good
The way a True Seamans always should.

But he also has a Serious side
As he has travelled both far and Wide
He/s seen the World Both Bad and Good
And always known just where he stood.

But now in Years he ages too
Just like others like me and you
So now he sits and makes up lines
Of all his old and golden times
Of Friends both now and in the past
Hoping that this will forever last

So fear not John we're all with you
And help is here if you need that too
Some may be far and across the Sea
But would be there if really need be

    And that the Story!! LOL

Maybe we could put them in Articles for good keeping?

Like me you obviously have a poetic bent, try not to get it straightend, it is fine as is.
