My guess is that there are still writers who have the ability to write the scripts liken to the 60's and 70's era. The trouble is that now in the day and age of the epidemic called Political Correctness, and I emphasise epidemic because it is a form of disease of the mind, these writers scripts would never be accepted.
Minority anachist ethnic and political groups have hijacked and are manipulating the very thing that has made this country so tolerant over the centuries and that is the freedom of speech.
I noticed the other night watching an old recording of Please Sir on Britbox at the start of the episode was a disclaimer saying that they apologise for the content of the programme as it was made during an era when values were not the same as today.
We are really the ones to blame for all of this. We have allowed these people to get into positions of power which has led to the irreversible changes to our very way of life.

Just watched Eric and Ernie and sketch where the were joined by Andre Previn. Saw it years ago, still as funny today. No swearing, no pc correctness, just laughs.

Part of it is also that you cant have comedy like that anymore. everyone gets offended by something.
I was watching Good Neighbors (the good life) the other day on BritBox, A disclaimer popped up stating:
"The Good life is a classic comedy programme which reflects the broadcast standards, language, and attitudes of its time. Some viewers may find this content offensive"

Typical dry Norwegian humour.
Just watched the first one, excellent

To me the World had gone Bananas! I wish that all that do these stupid things as Rules on Offensive Comedy would get a life, wonder at times why they cannot see that its just that "Comedy" and nothing else. Watching Love they Neighbour is such a buzz and keeps me sane at times! Wonder why the program On the Busses has not yet been put on the silly list?? In some episodes there are also traces of Colour talk. Bring back all those great British Comedies there will be less War and more Laughter!
    Cheers

Oh for the oldden Golden Days !!! All gone now and just getting worse in place of better!!

Asome of the so called modern comedy should have a disclaimer ie "this programme my offend as it is not considered funny by some viewers".

Steptoe And Son The Piano S1 Ep2 - Bing video

And now with the Internet is so easy to download many of these old Comedies to ones Puter, i have been doing it for some time, so as i can watch things that are no longer on the TV. The really good ones that i like i actually transfer to an External Hard Drive kept solely for Movies and TV Series!
Then can connect to large TV Screen and Enjoy!
Great at times when the days are long ,Wet and Cold!
