I wonder why there are no more great comedy writers who brought us shows like Only Fools and Horses, Father Ted, Faulty Towers, One Foot in the Grave and Dad's Army. Nothing would be better right now than to escape all the doom and gloom, sit back and laugh for an hour.

I think they have tried to replicate Dads Army, and Only fools, with not a lot of success, and it always amazes me that Saturday nights repeats always include Dads Army, and still enjoyed by many, i think there only about 2-3 of the original cast still alive. I agree, lets get some new shows out, someone apart from us lot on here must have a sense of humour, kt

Seems comedy is not alive and well today unless it contains obscenities, explicit sex, etc, visual funny people whose facial expressions told it all have disappeared into time. As for remakes they never work, Dads Army was a complete flop, as was Open all Hours, and many others, American remakes are even worse, gone are the mystery elements replaced by video game like antics, their name escapes me now, but utter rubbish.

They are still out there but probably too scared to put pen to paper in case some snowflake is offended

Last Sunday Channel 5 showed the two Ronnie's Australian tour followed by Dick Emmery, fantastic entertainment.
Before the D. E. show started and at every advert break there was warning, that this program contained laungage not appropriate for today's audience.
Yet, the so called comics, curse and swear on today's shows without any previous warnings. Its a funny old world.

Ps I would rather watch the comics of our generation than the so called funny men of today.

There is some decent comedy around on U.K. Tv. I enjoy ' would I lie to you ' which while not completely rehearsed can offer some hilarious comedy. My all time favourite though was the BBC radio show hosted by Humphrey Littleton 'I'm sorry I haven't a clue ' with Humph's scandalous innuendo and the inventidness of the panel. All still available on catch-up.
