Good on Ya Terry, glad you fought it off and are back. I must admit I have had the flue jab the last two years, but I will say the chest complaint I had due to the smoke from the fires took some beating off over eight months, harder that trying to get ashore up the Gulf.

    Les mate
While i fully agree with what you say (that is the way me and her indoors were for many Years) however of late the past two Years now, we have had the Jab, and i must say so far all has been well, no Flu nor even a Cold.

But yes it is common knowledge to many Doctors that not getting the Jab ,does strengthen your immune system, but and a big but !
Apparently after one gets to about 75 the immune system starts to not work as well, and in many cases stops ,this is where the jab comes in very handy, as without it could be curtains for many>

But for al those Years yes we have never had any Flu jabs and although i have caught it badly twice, got over it and the immune System built up because of it, so you are correct but as said to a point.

So now we are oldies LOL we must put up with a small needle!

    Cheers

Terry I was told if you have the Flu go to bed with something hot. I tried and got into more trouble then Flash Gordon.

As to immune system, it is not so much age as life style that has a lot to do with it.
White blood cells are the ones that act as you best immune defence.
They are best made when the body is cool, so many aged persons tend to over heat the body with too much clothing, this confuses the body into thinking it does not need to make so many white cells.
Stay cold and fit is the answer.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

    Hi Terry
Bottle of Four Bells rum and a couple of Beecham Powders will cure anything or at least you don't feel anything.
    Good luck mate.

All the best to terry, and to John , hope your treatment works .

I had a few probs, In the last 4 weeks, They say probs happen in threes.
I took a dive from the top step of the stairs to the bottom and seven hours in A+E. OUCH
Two weeks ago I fell in the garden and was stuck , could not get up and lay there for 15 minutes when a neighbour saw me and helped me up, OUCH.
During last night around 4am I fell out of bed, here in Fleetwood, head and shoulders hit the drawers on the bed side and then landed on my right arm, hip and knee, OUCH. in agony all day,
Each time totally sober, no alcohol .
So tonight will open a bottle of Grouse Whiskey.
    Cheers, Brian.

As they say? Keep the spirits up and they are so bloody right hey. Does not cure but who gives a toss after a few glasses. It seems that they are now looking at escrament (shite then) as a cure for some and has saved a few lives lately. They inject healthy shite into a person and that helps increase those little blighters in the intestines to work. So as long as you eat well and shite well one should be okay. Especially all ex seamen who have been getting shite on them for years LOL. As they say a good shite is just as good as good sex. Once you have had it the urge goes away for a while. How the hell did I get onto this subject hey LOL
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.
