Re: UK - Three Week Lockdown
With all these people whinging about being in lock down and demanding free trick cyclist help, makes me remember the days of tramping, with no tv, videos or computers. We laughed it off and hoped the next port would be good, often was't much chop. Did 28 days drifting off Christmas Island with only short wave radio, but we played cards on bridge wing of an after noon as only place you could get 4 players for solo or bridge.
Loaded fertiliser cargo in Savona then to Suez and then Singapore for bunkers and on to Chingwangfuckintau all at 9 Knots wind and tide during Mao's time so vertually no shoreleave, Discharge and load coal for Honkers. Arrived late afternoon and although HK company and cash on board, no noe went ashore, stayed onboard had a few beers and laughs and enjoyed a good nights kip. Went astray after that.
Many others will have done longer voyages without shore leave with no ill affects.
Whats wrong with todays people.

#103.. John on the same day I will be having a minor operation on eyes for cataracts , I will be thinking of you , having much worse, I have been looking forward to being able to see better for nigh on 3 years , you on the other hand will not have been so keen for your operation to come round. It will pass over all ok I am sure and you will be back and your usual sprightly self once more very soon. All the best.I go in at 0630 in the morning and expect to get home for my tea at 1700 hrs. On the 20th. July. I wish they could do both eyes at the same time and get the job done. I only hope there is no more resurgence of this virus and everything gets cancelled again. All the best . JWS
