Default The Madness of Football & Its Consequences.

Tonight Liverpool FC play Athletico Madrid in a European Football Competition in Liverpool. At present there are only 5 cases of Coronavirus in the city and they are being treated at specialist hospital units.

SPAIN has so far confirmed 1,646 cases of the virus – 782 of them in the Madrid region – and 35 deaths. Nurseries, schools and universities closed on Tuesday and will remain shut until 23 March.

All public events involving more than 1,000 people including Football Matches have also been banned in Madrid, two areas of the Basque country, and the neighbouring region of La Rioja. The central government has also stopped all flights from Italian airports.

An excess of three thousand fans will be travelling from Madrid to Liverpool to support their team tonight and this is deemed OK by Liverpool FC and Liverpool City Council.

Even the local MPs and Football Pundits are calling the situation ' madness '.

I am really lost for words as it would appear that ' Football Rules over Life and Death, all they care about is money, money money and 22 people kicking a bag of wind around.

It is possible that there will be some of those 3000 plus could be carrying the Virus.
and not just in the stadium but in the city as well.

I am so glad I never watch football, never seen a match since 1946, 74 years ago, when I survived the Bolton Wanderers Disaster.

Whilst I agree with some of the sentiment it must be put into a realistic manner.

There are about 8 billion on this planet, so far about 5,000 have died.
My calculator, a good one cannot show the percentage.

Last year here in Oz some 1,000 died from the Flu, from a population of 25 million a percentage rate of 0.004%

As long as the virus lasts and the Media continue to push out panic messages, and that is all they are, the population will behave in a manner that is not needed.

Of all the so far deaths 90% have been of persons with other serious medical conditions.
The recovery time from this Virus is about four days, the common Flu can last for up to 10. have been of persons with other serious medical conditions.

But there are some odd tales coming out of this.
In a supermarket yesterday an elderly lady in a wheel chair could not buy any toilet paper, all gone.
A very good staff member went to the staff toilet and brought he two rolls.

One of our Police stations has a supply which it will give to persons with genuine mobility challenges.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

John, I honestly do not know where you get your information about recovery times from, but our medical sources are indicating that you will be ill for an average 12 to 14 days. Personally, I know of at least two people who have been infected by this strain of Coronavirus and it has been two weeks before they now feel better. No matter how you play with your calculator you cannot get away from the fact that the spread and speed of spread of this virus across the world is extremely alarming. The accounts of doctors in northern Italy of their decisions on who should be treated and who should not and would therefore die is horrifying and no idle fake news, young people too in their late thirties and early forties not just the elderly. You say that 90% of deaths are of people with underlying health conditions. Yes this is true but in very many of those cases the people would have still been alive today had it not been for the Coronavirus, they may have had underlying health conditions but they were not in danger of dying from them just yet. This is reality, reality for which there is no excuse - Coronavirus kills people of all ages and especially the elderly and infirm and we should respect what the medical experts tell us and try and follow their instructions without alleged reality check reactions.

#5. Two thingsI can’t get my mind around. Probably because I dont take too much notice of what the news report on.
The first however is how and what really is this Corana virus and how has it originated. And two all this kerpuffle shown on our screens with the toilet rolls , does this virus cause diorhea or what ? It appears most fighting over toilet rolls seem to have origins of people of other sects and religions who don’t even use them if they carry on With their cultural pursuits. Certain cults I have sailed with use a piece of paper or rag the size of a slightly bigger than a postage stamp. A two inch square of newspaper would be quite ample. These are the cultures who eat with their left hand. So the mad scramble for these items of luxury should be for other reasons. JS

I think the rush on toilet paper is because people are using it instead of tissues. Think about it, a pack of toilet rolls used as tissues to sneeze into works out far cheaper than buying boxes of tissues and with toilet roll you get dual purpose use unlike Kleenex tissues which are not much use in the toilet area.

I think the tissues are going just as fast here by all accounts. JS

I brought one ship back to Australia from Indonesia . All the toilet seats had been removed. There were no toilet rolls or toilet roll holders . Needless to say with an Australian crew the clean up and putting back to normal was quite a big job. JS
