Whether its right or wrong a Private company would be cutting its cloth to suit its circumstances.
BBC has over 8,000 journalist and does not produce a paper, why do the need so many?

Glad that in Oz we don't have TV licences. Like John from Sunbury says what's available free to air is pretty bad. Mind you it's interesting to watch the really old shows gives us a good laugh. Like to look at the credits to see just when these shows were made. Keep smiling that costs nothing. LOL

We do have a big problem here in Oz with ABC the national broadcaster with more staff than you could poke a stick at.
They continue to put on previous shows to such an extent one is seriously considering sending them some antacid to stop the repeats.

But then again commercial is not much better, there you are just begining to enjoy the adverts when thye shove a bit of a program into them.
    No consideration for the viewer.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

Nervously switched on my tv this morning expecting either a blank tv screen or a detector van parked on my drive. Nothing. Scanned the bbc schedules and apart from a footie game it was the usual desert of entertainment. They're taking their time arresting me for non payment, but I'll just watch itv and hope they don't notice.

Over-75s can keep a free licence if they claim pension credit, a form of benefits. But the Age UK research says there are up to 590,000 over-75s eligible for the credit who don't claim it.

A study by a major charity says more than 500,000 pensioners are unaware that they could qualify for a free licence because they are on low incomes.

Don't worry Brian, the £154.70 per annum that us 5 million oldies pay will save the Govt paying it, that will allow them to pay more illegal asylum seekers £37.90 per week per person in a family, this is in addition to them being accommodated in a house/flat/B & B/etc, having their Council Tax paid and disability benefit if disabled, in addition anyone in the family who is due to give birth within 8 weeks of arriving will receive a one off payment of £300 per baby due, if they have not been granted asylum then the payment is reduced to £250. All this information is published by the Immigration office and is freely available at the Immigration Services Office in Calais. Regretfully I cannot advise you how many languages it is published in, nor can I advise if large print or Braille editions are available, that is why we are a magnet.

But please rest assured that whilst you are watching depressing news worldwide on your TV that you have contributed towards the welfare of someone who shouldn't be here in the first place and has never contributed to our society either manually or financially to the old age pension that our various governments say you have to be so grateful for, life is just a bowl of cherries.

No doubt I will be getting a knock on the door shortly, as in this PC world the truth is unacceptable
