Hi Fouro thanks for that it is only when you see that you realise the bravery of those S/by boats trying to save the survivors, Rgs Den

Re # 7.
Yes Den, seeing is believing, this is the reason I always try to include videos as evidence what I am writing about.
It beggars belief that someone on this site had the indecency to insult JWS who was the skipper of the "Silver Pit" standby vessel on that horrendous night who's crew managed to pick up most of the survivors from the burning inferno which surrounded them.
People say- Time heals and helps them to forget, alas, others never forget. This is the reason why the Piper Alpha disaster will be remembered for ever.
May all the poor souls who lost their lives in the disaster R.I.P.

Fouro.

John I agree totally and have asked him the question.
But just now it is no, sadly as his knowledge was invaluable on all sea going matters.
It has often crossed my mind regarding the Alpha, was it an accident or could it have been an act of sabotage by those who were not in favor of it for any reason?

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Alpha Oil Rig Survivor.
Bad maintenance and lack of liasion between shifts is the simple reason which caused the disaster.
