I should imagine there would be a large cript so before any work starts any water that would have filled the cript would have to be pumped out and dried before the foundation starts to fail the walls would be feet thick of natural stone so the temperature of the fire would not be as dam ageing to the structure regards anything that is out of sight repair with modern materials it will be a long job but craftsmen from all over Europe will be hired?wish I was fit again I would give them a hand.. jp

Notre Dame is structurally unsafe and could collapse if winds in Paris reach 55mph, a new report has claimed.
The world mourned after the iconic cathedral caught fire on the evening of April 15.
More than 400 firefighters battled the flames, which quickly spread along the roof structure, causing burning timbers to collapse onto the ceiling of the vault below.
But initial assessment of the damage by engineers reveals the vault damage has weakened the walls, which could fall in if weather conditions are poor enough.

Notre Dame Cathedral has been crumbling for many years now and it seems it's maintenance
has been largely neglected through the lack of funds, it's a tragedy that it took the devastating
fire in April to highlight the disinterest shown by the French Government who are now willing
to fund the restoration to save face, glad to say our historic buildings are more appreciated and cared for.

After working with the RBL Paris branch the last few years, introducing a Red Ensign in 2017 for
11/11 Notre Dame for the first time and helping with an MN standard last year, I hope to hear
    soon of contingency for 2019.

I would hope the MN presence in Paris will continue, will pass on all and any news.

Think all thoughts are on stopping the walls falling,
    before any kind of roof.
