Construction toys

Not really construction but sort of in a way was the old John Bull printing sets we used to get ,I also loved those with sitting and inserting the letters in the little Boards Grooves making up various lines of Words and addresses.
Used to have a small Tweezer in the set to be able to squeeze this little letters in the Grooves,it was good for ones education on spelling.

Oh yes JA the Airfix Models were really something,they were another Toy that one could sit hours on end with,and the finished products were grand. I used to have quite a few good Models of Aircraft hanging from my Bedroom Ceiling it was fun.
Oh where did all that good Fun go .
Just recently I was Walking around here in Blackheath and came across this new Toy Shop well not all Toys but he has a collection of various Model Kits such as the Airfix ones (Different Brand) but they look good has Balsa Wood ,
He also has many small Dinky Toy Cars something that I to had many of, and the prices are not too bad.
Trying to think of the other make of small Model Cars we had then,i did see some at one time somewhere but the Prices were so Expensive.

Oh yes the Matchbox Toys that's the ones,i think I may have got mixed up,as I think now that the Matcbox Series I saw were the cheaper,the Dinky ones the more costly??

Mus be a few her that also tried their hands at Building the old Crystal Sets in past Years.
My late Brother built one that was very good ,reception was terrific and we used to have our small Earphones on in Bed listening to various Radio Stations.
He used an old Vim Container (Cardboard Type Round) for the Coil made with a Roll of Copper wire very thin,then had to scratch around the actual Crystal itself,to locate the Stations what fun it was, but as said very clear when you got a Station with a lot of practice and patience
Had an Aerial out the Window very long and as high as we could get it to the Tree outside,,had to have two Breakers one each side of the Aerial Line to stop static!
How good was that for us Kids ! LOL

One of my previous posts also brings to mind the Wire Construction Cras we used t make on the Farm,used to use old Wire and made Cars that could be pushed along with a Thicker piece of Wire attached to the Steering Wheel so that one could direct it in any direction,could not of course get in but had to Run along behind it,made some good fun in those days as well,and kept you fit .All that Running.

Like the Bicycle Tyre hoops as well having to steer them along with a piece of curved wire, so much we had in those days to keep us Kids happy !

In Scotland we called that a Gir and a Kleek. Yes, sure kept you fit.

Must be my Scottish Blood that came out then weebobby LOL (MacDonald) out of Inverness !

The we made Billy carts, made to look a bit like a car with front steering wheels via a bit of rope.
Great to go down hill but of course no brakes apart from the occasional bush you may run into.
Long before the skate board we would fix a roller skate to a bit of board and again of course no brakes.

I remember the lady at the bottom of the hill got very angry as we did untold damage to he hedge.
