Re: Global Warming
Seems India is demanding funds for developing countries to fight global warming.
Apparently, Under the UN climate convention, rich industrialised countries are obligated to help developing countries tackle climate change by providing funds, technology, and other support.

Re: Global Warming
Even Richard Attenborough the well know Naturlist has thrown his hat into the ring on the side of the climate change pessimists. But one should not assume that by doing so he has put a seal of approval on their predictions. If you go back to his shows since dot 1, he advocates all the animals that he introduces there in their original forms and how they evolved into what we have today, and all this was due to continuous climate change. So those who take his word as kosher should think about it , what he is saying is the same as every sane minded person agrees with is as Rob says clean up your mess after you. Even just thinking of the excrement and bodily waste produced by X millions of people and animals as against x thousands of the same is colossal . Most of this waste in the likes of India and such which all goes or used to in the Ganges would be the places to start on the clean up. And not cutting off people’s noses to suit their faces or wishful and unobtainable targets which have little or no practical results. JWS

Re: Global Warming
Hi John.
I am to old to worry about climate change, but I'm reminded by Grevaise the comedian when he says "Are you having a laugh, Are you having a laugh" To hold the climate change conference in a city that has one of the biggest coal mining ops in Europe has to be the joke of the century.
Cheers Des

Re: Global Warming
The children now at least seem more concerned about
the world they will inherit.
Anyone with kids, should at least want to clean up some
of the mess being left for them.

Re: Global Warming
There is evidence that at one time Ireland was a tropical country.
The problem is most scientists and those who advocate for a change to how we operate have limited understanding of what the planet was like billions of years ago.
With all the morphing of one cell creatures to develop to what we have today from the smallest an to the Blue whale did not come about by chance.
It took millions if not billions of year of constant change to reach where they are today.
As I have always said the issue has more political mileage than any scientific.

Re: Globle Warming
The often claimed 97% consensus among climate scientists is at best a misinterpretation.
The Netherlands Environmental agency recently published a survey of international climate experts and the 2012 American Meteorological Society surveyed it's 7000 members.
On both surveys on average about half said they thought Global warming had occurred in the 20th century and was partly man made.
The other half said they thought Global warming had not occurred, but climate change is a natural event.
If such persons cannot reach a consensus of opinion in the positive why should we believe any of them?
Now for something different.
On the first day of global warming Al Gore gave to me a fearmongering documentary.
Two melting ice caps, three failed car makers, four dollar petrol, five drowning Polar bears.
Six glaciers melting, seven oceans rising, eight rivers flooding, nine cyclones blowing
Ten droughts a happening, eleven light bulbs banning and twelve new ways of taxing.
And a very merry Christmas, not happy holiday, and a wonderful new year to all.

Re: Global Warming
Even if these figures are half true it makes one wonder just who is attempting to kid who?
But of course there is still so much coal available in the world and it is cheap compared to some other sources of power.
Hmmm - saving the planet - here we go!
Here's a small sample of how many coal plants there are in the world today. I could go into using the advanced technology of thermally efficient, supercritical steam generators using our own world's best metallurgical coal; but what's the point, it is treated as hearsay and political hyperbole.
The EU has 468 plants building 27 more for a total of 495. They tell everyone else it's their responsibilty to 'Save The Planet' from Climate Change, typical Europeans; morals are a philosophy, honesty is a heresy!
Turkey has 56 plants building 93 more total 149
South Africa has 79 building 24 more total 103
India has 589 building 446 more total 1036
Philippines has 19 building 60 more total 79
South Korea has 58 building 26 more total 84
Japan has 90 building 45 more total 135
AND CHINA has 2363 building 1171 total 3534
Here come our AUSTRALIAN politicians. That are going to shut down our 6 remaining plants and save the planet.
We are in cuckoo land !!
