Cockatoo land John this is Australia. I was on a ship that was called the Cockatoo Creek. Cockatoo Island was on SBS the other night on a ship doing a trip from the Pilbara to Darwin. Believe that Englishman that won the America’s cup in Fremantle built a holiday resort there. But collapsed when he went to Gaol. Bond was the name, not James though. Cheers JS

They”ll soon be taxing you on how many breaths you take to the minute. You can see how desperate most governents are of raising revenue. The French , I think the penny has finally dropped with them, others will follow suit. A few million Guy Fawkes will be a bit different than one to succumb. Europe will soon be a different place to live, and on top of everything you have the massive problem of excess misplaced persons. The German Chancellor didn’t even know the damage she was incurring on her own country plus others when she so liberally invited all and sundry into the Fatherland. Of course the ever present media was there to let the world know how charitable she was . JS.

Two very interesting points in the news today and last week.
All the big four banks here ae investing in fossil fuels at quite a heavy rate, none in renewable energy though.
Germany is to build more coal fired power stations as the Solar and wind systems ae not going so good for them.
There is more politics in this than any sign of climate change or global warming.
We here in Eastern Oz are currently having something of a heat wave, up in the Alice 10 days of 40 plus, down here in Melbourne a few warm days at around 38 with a couple of 42 thrown in.
Of course the 'Green' mob are saying it is the end of the world as we know it.
They fail to explain back in the last drought, in a land of 'Droughts and flooding rains' that back in 1998 here in Melbourne we had six days on the trot of 40 plus.
Up on the Murray the normal time of year temps at the 40 mark.
Same buggers will be complaining in the winter that it is too bloody cold when it goes down to 12, all centigrade that is.
Here we go again.
We have been having some hot weather of late here in Oz, bush fires and in Queensland some very heavy rain fall.
In a land of droughts and flooding rains it is not unusual to find our selves in such conditions.
Looking back at some records it is obvious there is a pattern of about ten year repeats.
We have had a number of days well over 42 degrees, first for ten years. The time before that was in 1999 when we had in the first week of March here in Melbourne three consecutive days over 40.
In Chicago today we heard the top temperature for the day will be minus 26 degrees. But as the correspondent said not unusual, and the snow is something they get every year.
In St. Petersburg the river is frozen over as usual
A report came out yesterday explaining that about 800 or so new coal fired power stations are to be built around the world in countries such as Germany, Japan, China, India a nda few others.
Then came on the radio the leader of the Australian Greens.
Doom and gloom as he is lovingly known told all who care to listen that if we continue with such weather events the world will be destroyed within the next decade.
So my advice to all of you. Do what you need to now, do not put it off because this guy given half a chance will bring it down to five.
The deep mined coal in the U K was uneconomical , but shale oil is a cheaper cleaner alternative , a lot of the anti fracking brigade seem to have a lot of unsubstantiated things to say
