Cappy people don't complain for nothing,how often do you see it in the press that a certain hospital or hospitals have been placed under special measures,not fit for purpose.You are lucky you have never come across it and I hope you never do,a couple of months back I got a taxi home from my local hospital which I have only ever had a good word for the taxi driver said it's got a bad name that place,not to me I said.But I must admit a few weeks ago when I was in there it didn't come up to scratch and as far as I am concerned I was in my right to tell the doctor so,he didn't like being told and I'm afraid he had no interest in treating me after that.When I say it didn't come up to scratch I am talking about one doctor and his dept.

We have only one hospital on the Island, and whenever i have needed treatment, has been fine, however what is happening here is lots of treatment has to be dealt with on the mainland, pretty much all cancer treatments for example, so its mainly Southampton-Portsmouth-Chichester. Obviously the biggest problem is one of time and money. Mostly its Southampton for treatment, and now involves getting to Cowes from wherever you live, then the fast cat ferry to Southampton, which is 20 minutes, then taxi to the hospital, and the trip in reverse back. We do get some concession with fares and taxis, but if the NHS were to shoulder it all , it would be huge.Its one of the problems living on an Island, but i will put up with that, its a lovely place to live, kt

#####well jim as i said you cant suit all the people all the time.....my family and myself have only had the best .....many buy a lottery ticket few get the big win.....personallly i am just glad to be here and glad that the NHS is there even though i hear horrendous stories of waste and bad management....only equation i can make to the NHS is many years ago in antibe in france my son was very ill ......i went to the local doctor who gave me six or so tablets and asyringe for me to inject him......i drove non stop to calais got aboard a ferry..where a doctor was called for and packed the boy in ice till we got to hospital.....the english doc looked at the tablets which were left chucked them in a bin ....after five days of medication the boy was on his pins......i can only speak for myself ....i have had no problems with the NHS nor have my family ....but one thing for sure im very glad we have got them within reach when needed ....regards cappy

I have just been sent by the DWP what is known as a Life Certificate. It is a standard form I have to fill in every 2 years I think it is. Basically it is asking if I am still alive and that I am still entitled to my state pension. In the accompanying letter the last sentence states that if English is not my first language I can use one of there interpreters or one of my own.
I had to phone the helpline as on the form I have tell them if I am receiving any other pensions or benefits. Earlier this year I was awarded a lump some payout and a monthly disability allowance for an Asbestos related disease. I got through to the International Pensions office and the lady I spoke to asked me if I could speak more slowly as she was having trouble understanding my accent, we managed in the end. Thankfully I watch the TV programme Vera with Brenda Blethyn so my Geordie ear was attuned. Attachment 27894 A fantastic actress, I always thought she was from the N East but no she is from Ramsgate.

I wonder if any Blue Flu chaps sailed with an electrician Tom Niblock who said he was with Blueys for seven years.This guy arrived in the ward his first complaint was there wasn't a clock on the wall,he liked clocks because he looked after them at sea,good I thought a fellow seaman to talk to,I soon realised he was off his trolley the nurse told me he was schizophrenic.He wasn't with us long when he went into the bathroom and let out these loud screams AAARGH,AAARGH ANK.The guy in the next bed Frank thought he was shouting for help and the last word was Frank,I'm coming Tom shouted Frank and made a run for the toilet door,the only problem was Frank forgot that he uses a zimmer and ended up in a heep on the floor.

This Tom guy kicked off one night after lights out and he was shouting all night and putting his bed light on which was right opposite me so it was like being in car head lights.The three of us who shared the ward had no sleep.The next day the nurse apologised and promised that he would not be there tonight.A man came to see him to try and get him to go home and he refused.That night He kicked off again"Its only a game give Tom a few pills and all laugh at him,it's only a game" he was also shouting at the nurses calling them bitches and worst of all he had these shoes I don't know what the soles and heels were but he marched up and down all night,no chance of a sleep.He used to have a sleep in the morning after keeping us awake all night.I shouted,if you think you going to get your head down in the morning your mistaken.He got into his armchair in the morning and went to sleep I went across and was banging his mug on his table shouting it's only a game lets all laugh at Tom its only a game.I said you are not getting any sleep here today you Bstrd.Once again he were promised,he wont be here tonight.Two young ladies called to see him I think they were doctors they had stethescopes around their necks,they were trying to get him to go home and he was arguing back he did not want tobe in his house on his own so he was going nowhere.They offered him care home and nursing home he refused.I said to the nurse I wish to put in a complaint regarding this loss of sleep and if he kicks off again tonight I want the security up here to escort him off the premises.We can't do anything about him keeping you awake we can only call the security if he attacks somebody.He was blocking a bed from somebody that needed it.I haven't really covered all that he did,he didn't cough all day as soon as the lights went out the coughing started and he started shouting for oxygen.I had three nights of it and he was still there when I went home,and oh I decided to walk down to the front entrance to meet my son who was picking me up as I passed the day room there is the bold Tom fast asleep in the chair it's no wonder he could stay awake all night.One night he shouted I like keeping people awake.
