What price do you put on a life, Let alone 72
IN london to upgrade the " at risk " places is £220,000,000 , shared between 886,000 households , so if I stood for election in your ward and said I am going to increase your council tax by £225 , would you vote for me , that is the cost to save a life . I am sure you would accept the price , vote for me and pay , many don't have your high principles , I would pay too Terry , that is the cost of a life never mind 72
There are a number of problems with all such enquiries, blame not always where it should be.
Some one attempting to remove blame from their own failures.
Differing versions of what occurred based on what the person involve thought they saw or what occurred.
A dozen versions of the event from so many involved.
much like history, not exactly what occurred but what was thought to have occurred by the person reporting the event.
Definitely mistakes were made at several levels which combined made the situation worse.
All we can now hope for is that some positive conclusions come out of this.
###as to blame for the disaster ......here is a moot point ......supose another tower block which has not been decladded were to set on fire .....who would be to blame .....surely anyone living in these fire risks are putting there lives at risk and if some died .....knowing of the risk ......could it be said they were causing there own situation.....just my thought ...i would certainly with my family not stay in one at any cost until the situation was remedied......cappy
Only last night on the news Cappy, residents in Southampton and Portsmouth still waiting to be rehoused until the cladding replaced. i suspect the precaution that will have been put in place will be full evacuation every time a smoke alarm is activated !!, just imagine that each time, followed by roll call etc, kt
they could just remoVE The cladding
Similar here in Oz, after the fire it was discovered that some multi storey building here have the same cladding.
All efforts are being made to remove it.
Cappy, As you know the area where that block of flats went up like a bloody bonfire is a very exclusive part of London and most of those residing in these flats cant afford to move onto the housing ladder in the area, So what do they do nothing they can do they put there faith in the powers in place to give them a helping hand and rip the cladding off ASAP.
###i would not stay in one till the situation was remedied......if i was skint or not i would have my family out......finish.......cappy
Story is that the cladding was only put on the tower to improve its looks.
apparently the residents complained that it looked ugly, now looks a lot worse.
