Re: I have a Plight.................
Hi Lewis,
The snippets of information that are coming in from people such as yourself are proving to be very helpful. You are right that the vessel might well have been loading English China Clay as the China Clay Works was in Fowey.
This has opened another avenue for me and one that I will be pursuing.
Thank you so much for all your help and hints.

Re: I have a Plight.................
As Keith suggested to try and contact the Port Authoraties is a good idea ,here also is a lInk (costly I must add) but possibly worth a shot???
There is a Form to fill in but don't know if they could go back that far! So contact then first and ask??

Beverley Even though information is forthcoming here,i don't see how anyone can trace this Person without some other small bit of info!
Do you know what he looked like?
This is just more than a needle in a haystack its a Pin in the Woods! LOL
You see without a name where does one start! Even id we guessed that correct Ship,it would be fruitless ,as we could not even look at the Crew Lists,so to me this is simply impossible!
Cheers
But the best of Luck anyway!

Re: I have a Plight.................
Ref to Doc Vernon and Keith at Tregenna,
Thank you so much for the info, there is so much and I will be looking into all the tips/hints that you have both suggested.
With regards to imparting more information for the Community to go on, well here goes, I'll lay myself open and get straight to the point:
In 1962, the Merchant Seaman I am seeking had a brief/fling relationship with a 19yr old lass called Viv/Vivienne from Fowey of which I am the result. I was adopted as an infant. I am now 55yrs old and as such, would like to find/locate or just know of my Father be that he is living or dead.
I am aware that he does not know of me, if he is still alive, and that I also respect that he may not want to know me, but that will be his decision.
I am simply wanting to do what I have said, which is to know of him and to let him know that I am the daughter he never knew he had. I am not expecting anything from this person or out to make waves or cause any ill-harm. This is just something that I must do now that I am 55yrs old before I depart this life.
So thank you to everybody for reading my thread/post, I have laid it wide open and will now live in hope that something nice and positive will come back to me.
Many thanks to all,
Beverley McNamara
Re: I have a Plight.................
Initially and has to be asked, are you in contact with mum / Vivienne or any of her family ?
Again ask if any fathers name was given on your birth certificate ?
You indeed have a bit of a needle in a hay stack / poser, yet it could be possible that he has been seeking you.
Fingers crossed.
Keith.
Re: I have a Plight.................
Good luck Beverley, I hope all will end well and you can gain the information you seek. DNA if there was such a way to follow a route like that?
Re: I have a Plight.................
Hi Keith,
I did make contact Viv and still do maintain regular contact with her........
Sadly no Fathers name on my Birth Certificate.............
Doubtful that he has been seeking me, I don't believe he knows I exist..................
And yes, fingers crossed.
Thanks very much and enjoy the rest of your evening.

Re: I have a Plight.................
I take it if you had no further clues from Viv, as these would already have been followed up.
One thing now is the hope the chap may see this thread.
Regards Keith.
Re: I have a Plight.................
Hi Lewis,
I have done a DNA Test through Ancestry but as of yet hasn't thrown any light on my plight. If anybody from this site does actually think, "Aaaah! this could actually be me" and if they were willing to come forward by messaging me here or privately, I will happily pay for a DNA Test to be done to determine if this is the right person I seek.
I cannot offer anymore than that.
Thanks for your help and advice,
Warmest wishes,
Beverley McNamara
