I wish somebody would throw an extra thousand quid at it so I could have my prostate problem sorted.Yes a lousey thousand quid a man and they will not release the money to the consultant until he has ten patients lined up for the procedure.Ive made myself an appointment to see the consultant on Tuesday and I certainly wont be pulling any punches,not nasty with him of course its not his fault.They say nobody should wait more than 18 weeks after seeing the consultant,I've been on his books now two years and had a pre-med last May that's a little more than 18 weeks I think.

Anybody drunk who turns up at A&E unless they have life threatening injuries should be put in a cell until they sober up. Before treatment be told the cost of there treatment, they have the option of accepting the conditions or taking a hike out the door. Anyone who assaults hospital staff, 200 hours community service and a £1000. They do not even get the right of appeal.

Part of the problem with people turning up at A&E is in a lot of areas trying to get an appointment with a GP is impossible.
But also Joe public needs to take a lot more responsibility for there own health care. If you sneeze and feel a bit feverish, most likely you have a cold or some minor ailment.
Have a root around in a kitchen drawer/Bathroom cabinet and you will find few Paracetamol or a few Lemsips or if you are really lucky some Cloves , some Honey and a bottle of Whiskey and make a hot toddy and go to bed for day or two. No need to go pestering the Doctor and certainly not A&E. If you have to visit a health specialist go to the Pharmacy any decent Chemist will either give you something for what ails you or advise you to see a Doctor .
I bet if a lot more people did this the NHS save £ millions and also take the heat of an over worked and oft abused system.

one of the biggest problem at hospital and GP clinics is missed appointments 14,000,000 GP appointments a year cost to the NHS £1,000,000,000 a year , if you had £10 on your visa card refunded if you turn up or give advanced notice , if I miss a physio appointment without day before notice it costs me £90 , private sector , that money could fund 30,000 nurses a year .

next problem , targets , there are dozens of clerical staff counting heads and treatment time 10.000 A&E admissions a day , the scrapping of targets , could be 5 more nurses each Hospital .

prescriptions are bought and sold on ebay , how much does the over-prescribing , to pretenders cost

Our GP's surgery ring us the night before (a) to remind us and (b) to ask if we will be attending.If you are not going to attend they can give somebody else that appointment.I have already had a phone call from the hospital to see if I will be attending on Tuesday.There could be many unforeseen circumstance's where people cannot attend.

Jim get your GP to change your Hospital if that one cannot do it, You can go to any hospital of your choice that specialises in your problem.
What happens if the Consultant doesnt get any more up to ten, you wait two years , Five years ?? until he does?
I have never waited more than two weeks maximum for a Hospital appointment, some there in 72 hours and operated on.

##jim i get a 6 month MOT at my surgery which every year includes a blood test which also measures for any prostrate probs ....i find if anything is shown out of order it is seen to immediately .......cappy

I understand that after a wait of 18 weeks you have the option to have it done privately ??, and the NHS pays. This happened to me last year, after 3 cancellations, i had a call from a unit in Southampton to do it privately, luckily for me, the appointment that was already made here, came up trumps and i had the op on the Island. My Brother-in-law had his heart op done privately under the same system, kt

Thanks for that Brian I'l see how I go on next week,lets see what they have to offer.To be honest I prefer this hospital to the Royal in Liverpool as I am amongst my own if you know what I mean,not in the Royal though.The last time I seen the consultant he couldn't apologise enough,I felt so sorry for him I assured him I understood the situation and it wasn't his fault.

Cappy is that what the they call the Well Man clinic??? we had something like that at my GP in Wirral.
