Hi Rob, according to encyclopediavirginia.org between the 1500's and the 1800's 12.5 million slaves were transported from Africa. 15 percent died on route and we're given a watery grave.

What has occurred in the past can never be undone.
But there arte many who consider it the correct thing to do and apologize for the acts of those in our distant past.
We had a PM here a few years ago who stood up in the parliament and offered an apology for the manner in which the Aborigines of the past were treated.
He did not say so on behalf of the people, only on behalf of the parliament.
But we can never pass such apologies on behalf of any other group.
What happened, happened and cannot be changed.
What’s the big deal about slaves any way. They go back to biblical times and were part of the dowry of many a blushing bride. Common practice was after a town or City was vanquished the population was either put to the sword or sold into slavery. I would of put my hand up for the second choice. Apologies from people not yet born at the time means nothing. Apologies should go the same way as ablutions down the sink. Did the Japanese imperial forces apologise to the slaves of the Burma railroad, which was more modern day stuff. I never heard they did. The usual bunch of nutters nothing better to do than stir things up, sometimes calling themselves Christians, who haven’t yet got round to reading the small printing in their own bible. They get chased when they come knocking at my door. JS
And the fact that it still goes on in this World.

On Todays News tv,
Some Hungarians in Oldham had slaves in the attic, they just got arrested and the slave is being treated for his injuries
If the people who want to whitewash over out history put their energy into stopping modern day slavery it would be far a better use than what they're doing rewriting what happened
#48... Brian if they discover an old type lamp in the attic sorely in need of a good polish, rather than throw it in the dustbin I will take it off their hands, Cheers JWS.
Slavery exists in many forms not just the concept of some one kept locked up just to perform duties as required.
There are workers well underpaid in many industries working for some one who just does not want to play by the rules.
Wives locked in a loveless marriage they cannot escape from, particularly with some religeons.
All are slaves in some form, but little is done to ease their suffering.
Hi All.
I was a slave, I went to the Vindicatrix and sailed as a deck boy then ordinary seaman in the 50s, I was rescued when i got my EDH certificate then AB and Bosun, Then I became a master of deck boy slaves.
