To lose their lives at sea is bad enough but if they have lost their life because someone somewhere has been totally incompetent or even worse as taking a bribe for substandard equipment that I hope that person is brought one day to JusticeQuote:

I have dealt with German companies for 20 years before retirement over 10 years ago , I always found their work consistently high quality , I always suspected the sub was further off the coast than reported , i.e. near the Falklands , hence search was in the wrong area , the refit took a very long time , a snorkel fault surely at snorkel depth would have failed at deeper dives

not knowing much about subs but is there no internal pressure tests whilst after a mayor repairs.. jp
John from my limited knowledge of underwater warfare naval style, every submarine will have its depth limits. Have you heard in what area she is suspected of going down in and what depths of water she may have been in. Any qualified ships architect with plans of the submarine would be able to work out at what depth she would break up at. The same as a ship with shearing stresses working in a seaway can be worked out frame by frame with the builders information from ships plans can be worked out. I said early on when reading what information one could get from the media, that more than likely the powers to be would know what likelihood of success they would get,and probably just going through the motions for the general public. The time I worked for the mod saw 5 accidental deaths in the small area we worked , the general public is unlikely apart from the family’s ever to be made aware of. The same as seamen world wide die on a daily basis and there is no big stop Press,unless it is a passenger vessel to give the story a bit of ooomph. All very sad, but a part of life we are stuck with. There must be a fall guy somewhere and according to reports coming in is head of the Argentine Navy. Cheers JS.
